“Wow, what a little gem”

Visiting family in the area, just out for a Sunday stroll and in need of a coffee fix. We sat outside as weather was lovely, coffee was one of the best we've had for a long time. If we hadn't already eaten we would have had a cake or 2...... everything is made on the premises. Owner was very welcoming, we will definitely be back.
Highly recommend if you are in the area.
We just wish we could find something like the Cacao Bean where we live, unfortunately full of the well known chains, where coffee is over rated and nothing special.

“For tea/coffee and cake, go here!”
Reviewed 29 May 2014

Came across this gem by accident, late one Sunday afternoon. We had parked one end of the town and wanted a cup of tea and a something nice. All the others shops were closing so we thought we had arrived too late, but luckily for us, they were still serving here. I drink green tea and they happened to be serving my favourite brand (Clipper). Other half had a latte, which he informs me was very nice.
A very warm welcome by a lovely young girl.
The cakes were, quite frankly, exquisite. All the look of a "Paul" or a "Patisserie Valerie" but much lighter and without the mass production.
I happened to chat to the owner when settling the bill who told me that opening this cafe after many years as a pastry chef in a top class hotel, had been her dream. She has achieved it most successfully. Not a stodgy cream tea in sight. Wonderful.

Go here. Everything about this little cafe is lovely.

“Laid back worth looking for...”
Reviewed 5 May 2014

There is without doubt a pastry chef of real class here, modelling perfectly crafted belly busting cakes and pastries. There is an array of choice including gluten free.Just a few of each kind on display indicates that these beauties are not produced en mass but delicately handcrafted a dozen at a time.

It would be very easy to miss this place as it is just outside the main browsing centre of the town, even though its on the main street. Entering the town from the south east it will be on the left.

We were fortunate to get a table situated just outside the shop, there are only two tables, and ours was bathed in the warm afternoon sunshine.

Those of you that follow me know that I have the biggest sweet tooth in the Midlands. I can never have just one dessert or one cake, and today was no exception. My first was a perfectly produced brownie topped with a scoop of ice cream, my second cake was a plum polenta offering, my wife had an orange polenta.

What I also liked about this place was the quality of the coffee and tea. How refreshing to sip from a lovely shaped tea cup served from a matching teapot that actually pours perfectly with no spillage or fuss.

If you are after a great afternoon cuppa or cup of coffee and fed up with stale undercooked scones or your average Victorian sponge or Chocolate gateaux purchased from a local wholesaler then try this place, its unpretentious and very laid back - just like its location
