Having read good reports on Number 4 and Cutlers' we booked a weekend break and our expectations were matched in full.

We had a very comfotable modern room with a sitting room area. We had no problem with the road noise that some had reported.

Dinner in Cutler's was a most enjoyable experience with a great menu with every course beautifully cooked and presented and friendly yet efficient service. Breakfast was equally enjoyable.

This is a wonderful hide away in the heart of the Cotswolds. We will be back.

Room Tip: 201 is great as it is on the end farthest from Foss Way

We have just visited Number 4 at Stow for the fourth time. As it is so good, there is little point in staying anywhere else. Once again, the ambience was relaxed, professional and friendly. Our rooms were spotlessly clean, as was the rest of the hotel. Our breakfasts and evening meals were splendid. Well done to the managers and staff for creating such a special place.

We stayed for one night in March '12 to celebrate my wife's 50th birthday and really enjoyed it. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet and the staff were extremely attentive and professional, leaving us feeling very relaxed. The highlight was the meal in the Cutlers restaurant which was absolutely excellent, both in terms of the quality of the food (faultless) and the highly professional serving staff. Highly recommended, and would be happy to return.

We have just arrived back home from this Hotel, I booked it on line for a treat for my Husband for his 60th Birthday.
We were welcomed and shown to our room straight away and both Breakfast and Evening Dinner were of a very high standard.
There was not anything that was too much trouble and the ambience of the Hotel was very tranquil and relaxing.

Stayed here at the weekend with my boyfriend, wished it could have been longer than 1 night. Some of the best service I have experienced in a hotel in the UK. Attentive and professional from the minute we stepped through the doors.Initially booked just for B&B as I thought the prices for dinner looked a little expensive. However, we discovered many of the restaurants in the centre of Stow were charging similar prices so decided to have dinner in the hotel after all and were not disappointed. Breakfast was great too. Rooms aren't huge but they are very clean and tastefully decorated and very comfortable. The manager was lovely and very helpful, providing maps of good walks etc. This is a beautiful part of the country and hope to visit again.

We stayed here for a night as a winter weekend away. We'd chosen it on the basis of the glowing reviews on here, and I'm afraid that we came away a bit underwhelmed. There are a lot of good things about it - it's clean, tidy, nicely decorated and the staff are very helpful. They gave us a free upgrade to a suite, which was very spacious and had a separate sitting room and a large bathroom with bath and shower.

On the downside, the bed was quite hard and we didn't sleep well because of being repeatedly woken by banging and whooshing noises from the water pipes/air con system above. (My boyfriend mentioned this to the manager who was very nice about it and refunded the wine that we'd had with dinner to compensate.)

We had dinner in their restaurant and again although they were trying very hard, we weren't impressed with the food. As a previous reviewer mentioned, the service is almost too attentive, which makes for a slightly pressurised feel. The restaurant lacks ambience for dining, but it makes a better breakfast room.

I think fundamentally this place, although nice, didn't really hit the spot for me partly because of a few niggles, but also partly because it's modern. In hindsight, we probably should have chosen somewhere with more character for a visit to the Cotswolds. This place has potential, but could do with some fine tuning.
