“Pleasant enough but more 3 star with great food, OR great restaurant with rooms”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2012 via mobile

Nice enough (rehearsed) welcome, and all staff seemed happy and welcoming. Suite was comfortable, but velux windows combined with heavy rain does not equal dreamy sleep! Disappointed that they did nt serve cocktails, and thought this most odd until we realised we lowered the average guest age by about 15 years! Food was fantastic and come here for the restaurant - as for the other elements, nice try but outleagued by others in this bracket.

Thank you for taking time to share your experience of Number Four and Cutler's Restaurant with other TripAdvisor users.
All feedback is appreciated and we're delighted you enjoyed the food in our restaurant. We can offer some cocktails from the bar, but unfortunately, as we don't have a 'cocktail bar' we don't stock certain ingredients to make all different types of drinks.
However, should you come and stay with us again please ask for one of us when you make a booking so we can ensure your favorite cocktail can be served before dinner.
Warm regards
Caroline and Patricia Losel

Lovely hotel, very warm welcome, very good rooms. We asked for a cot and they provided a beautiful one even putting some toys in for the baby to play with. The food in the restaurant was excellent. A most enjoyable stay.

You simply can't do better than Number Four at Stow. Trisha and her team do a fantastic job and the service is brilliant, matched by the wonderful premises and one of the best restaurants you can find anywhere.

Add to that a great location in the Cotswolds, and you have a wonderful mix.

Room Tip: Get the package that includes dinner at Cutler's restaurant and breakfast too. You won't re...

This highly rated hotel lives up to its excellent reputation. It is a sparkling contemporary
hotel with first rate amenities. Our room was well appointed with a splendid view
of the Cotswolds. The owners appear to be heavily involved in the details of management. One feels that they truly care about the happiness of their guests.
A highlight of this hotel is their gourmet restaurant. The only minor flaw with Number
Four is that one must drive into Stow from its location. Since Stow offers free parking
for two hours, this was really not an issue. Highly recommended.

Just spent a long weekend at Number Four where I took my parents for a break. The owners have done a fantastic job in creating a hotel in which they've got everything just right. The rooms are clean, bright and decorated in a thoughtful modern style with nice touches such as individual duvets. The bed really was extremely comfortable. Adjacent to reception, there is a nice comfortable lounge area on two levels which is ideal for a drink before or after dinner. We ate in the restaurant on two nights and I have to say that the chef produced outstanding meals. Really first class. Breakfast was also excellent and cooked to order. There is a terraced patio outside the main entrance with decent outside furniture for when the sun shines!
Well that would be a pretty good review in itself but what makes this hotel really stand out is the customer service and friendliness of the staff which goes beyond anything you could expect. The staff make a concerted effort to talk to the guests and to take a real interest. It seems that the whole ethos of the hotel is built on creating a positive and extremely friendly atmosphere for the guests. This included every member of staff who we came into contact with during the stay. One of the owners, Caroline, who was on duty during our stay made us all feel very welcome. A special thanks to Carol and Ramon who were particularly attentive.
Great job in creating what you have here. It is a bit special and deserves the accolades on these pages.

Room Tip: If you want a bit more space, you may prefer to choose a suite

After reading previous reviews my expectations were high and I was not dissappointed. The Hotel is lovely with beautiful furnishings. Every member of staff was friendly, attentive and showed a real interest in us. The food was magnificent - If I am spending a lot of money I have high expectations and for the first time in years I thoroughly enjoyed every mouthfull of an excellent 3 course meal. What was also different is that we were on a dinner inclusive rate but had full choice of the a la carte menu and were not made to feel different. I can thoroughly recommend this Hotel and as soon as I can afford it will be back again

No 4, is a lovely hotel set conveniently on the outskirts of the village of Stow on the Wold. A good base for visiting the Cotswolds.
The hotel is very welcoming from the moment you arrive and the staff are extermely friendly and helpful. Nothing appears to be too much of a problem for them.
The highlight of the Hotel is the food. The Breakfasts are superb, with lovely fresh produce. The evening meals are amazing. The food is of the highest standard.
Would definitely stay here again, but would check on the timing of the Horse Fair in Stow and avoid these dates.
