went here for a weekend break staff were fantastic breakfast lovely but have to mention the road noise which was all day and all night could not open the double glazing as road noise was so bad so lack of fresh air in the room the room could also do with updating.

Room Tip: room 10 is right on the traffic lights and has constant road noise day and night

The Unicorn Hotel was originally a coaching Inn in 1642 so it is near a main road - The secondary glazing works very well if you keep it closed at night. I always advise guests in the Summer to leave the window open during the day with the large pedestal fan on so that the room is nice and cool when you go to bed and just leave the fan on number one setting at night to keep the room cool just like anyone would do at home during the warmer weather in the Summer months.

I hope that this explains things

best regards

Chris Martin

What a lovely place. Agreed to meet a friend here for lunch which is a halfway point between where we both live. I was late due to traffic, but my friend had already enjoyed a drink sitting in the sunshine. There is a set lunchtime menu which isn't huge but has a very good selection. Two courses is £12.50, £15 for three. The food was gorgeous, we had a chicken caesar salad and a crab and chilli linguine. Desserts were also lovely. The service was excellent. We asked to leave our cars just while we had a quick look at the shops and on our return we decided to go back in to see if we could have coffee. By this time there was only one lady on duty. She was really busy moving wood but stopped everything to serve us. Chatted to us as she worked. Coffee was in a cafetiere and was just perfect, it's usually always too strong for me. They are refurbishing this hotel, but apparently they won't be closing whist it happens. If you are staying here although there is work being done I don't think it will affect your stay too much, and the lovely pleasant staff will more than make up for any inconvenience. Well worth a visit.

Thank you for such a glowing report on the quality of your experience here at The Unicorn.

We do have to work harder for lunch and dinner custom as we are off the main square in Stow on the Wold

I do appreciate your comments and I will pass them onto to all the staff.

Best wishes

Had a short break at the Unicorn Hotel. Room was very clean, spacious with ample storage space. Staff were excellent with nothing being too much trouble for them. Had dinner on a couple of evenings and the meals were excellent. We would stay at this hotel again. The room did not have air conditioning due to the age of the building but there was a fan provided.

Excellent weekend all round! Well done Unicorn! Faultless service and staff and delicious breakfast. Would recommend to visitors to the area. Great advice on local walks and activities. Only downside was car park is on opposite side of road to hotel. But I must stress that this did not detract from my stay at all!

I do appreciate the praise for your recent stay here and we are all on hand for guests with general requests about local info.
The road can be a bit of a pain to cross from the car park but do just use the pedestrian crossing but there are quite often spaces right outside the Hotel as well.

Hope to see you again soon.

Best regards

My wife, our Jack Russell dog and I recently stayed at the Unicorn. We had booked for two nights midweek however our stay was so enjoyable we just had to add an extra day/night!
We stayed in room 1 which was a good size, a huge bed, nicely decorated and well positioned within the hotel. Chris and all the staff were excellent, the breakfasts were great and evening dinners were also good.
We love Stow and the surrounding towns and without hesitation would highly recommend the Unicorn and without doubt will be staying again, Christmas could be interesting!

It was great reading your very positive review and I am pleased that you really enjoyed your stay.

It is certainly not too early to think about Christmas as we already have bookings for the festive period. The atmosphere is more cosy with the wonderful inglenook fireplace in the bar.

I do hope to hear from you

Best wishes

We have just returned after a 2 day break at Unicorn Hotel. It was our first time in the Cotswolds but won't be our last, what a pretty place! We asked for a quiet room as the hotel is on a main road and were given room 16, although small this room is perfectly adequate with plenty of storage/hanging space, and yes Chris the bed was lovely and confortable thank you! First night we ate in the restaurant and second night in the bar, we preferred the restaurant but both nights although the menu is slightly limited, especially if you don't normally eat much meat, all the food was beautifully cooked and very fresh.

All the staff are really friendly and helpful and special thanks go to Chris the manager for a very smooth and professional check in when we arrived, and we must mention Jana who pulled out all the stops to help us when there was a slight problem with our reservation and who was extremely helpful and informative when we met her, many thanks Jana you are an asset to the Unicorn. The Unicorn has its own car park across the main road which is extremely useful as the parking in Stow and elsewhere in the Cotswolds can be a bit of a nightmare. Also we were lucky enough to be there when the weather was really good, the garden at the rear of the hotel is lovely and quiet and well worth visiting for an afternoon drink after a walk round the area.

If you havent tried the Unicorn it is well worth a try, we travel quite a bit and we would certainly recommend this hotel for the friendliness and cleanliness throughout and as a base for the rest of the Cotswolds. Once again many thanks to Chris and all your staff for a very pleasant stay.

Room Tip: room 16 small but adequate and if you shut the double glazing you dont hear the church bells during...

I very much enjoyed hosting your stay here at the Unicorn and I am pleased that the bed was comfortable as it was new and one of the more expensive beds in our suppliers range.

Thank you for your lovely comments about Jana, Assistant Manager and myself.

Hope to welcome you back

Kind regards
