“Great location - old English style”
Reviewed 3 April 2011

Spent Sat night away from kids. Perfect location in centre of Stow. Room good size with old fashioned decor - room and bathroom spotlessly clean. Reception greeting very friendly and helpful. Breakfast let it down a little - the 1970's style breakfast options were delivered by young staff with commensurate service skills. Did not take dinner at hotel but menu looked similar with no obvious daily menu. However, we would stay here again!

We had tried to book a room at the Kings Arms, but they were full for the weekend. We ended up at Stow Lodge instead, and what a wonderful stay it was. The rooms looked pretty frilly on the website, but ours was sweet and clean when we arrived. We were staying in the coach house, and though we were on the main street, noise was not an issue.

From check-in to check-out, every member of the staff was warm and helpful, but not pushy or invasive, which was nice. Loved our night caps in the residents' lounge, as well as The Queen's Head pub down the street.

Stow-on-the-Wold is a magical town and it was nice to be there in the off-season. We also loved Antony over at All of My Art on Digbeth Street.

A very friendly welcome awaited us on our arrival.
The hotel was warm, clean and very inviting, as was our room that overlooked the church.
My wife and I dined at the hotel on the first evening and the fillet steak we both had was superb. The breakfast was just as enjoyable, the staff were very friendly and efficient without exception. The hotel is a fine building with beautiful gardens and is perfectly situated just off the square. We enjoyed a very relaxing weekend only using the car for the return trip home. Will definately return.

Arrived on a cold afternoon and was shown to a warm room number 7 which had secondary double glazing and overlooked the most beautiful churchyard. Unlike an earlier reviewer we had an excellent night`s sleep and had to strain to hear the chimes of the tower clock.. The bar meal in the evening was delicious and the staff all very friendly and helpful when I queried the security of overnight parking etc. Only there for an overnight stop and will certainly stay there again.

I was going to write a review of this hotel, but having read all the others what more can one say. We stayed in the Coach house (Room 20) Enjoyed a good dinner with a bottle of wine adjourned to the very comfortable lounge for coffee and a brandy returned to our room. Didn't hear the bells at all!!!
Just an excellent family run hotel, very tidy and clean throughout.

just back from one night stay at stow lodge we were welcomed by freindly helpfull staff we were up in room 16 which was up some steep stairs but were given the choice to have that room or another slightly dearer lovely room large bathroom.as some people have mentioned in other reveiws the decor is floral but it is in keeping with the age of hotel and is spotlessly clean. Yes it is next to a church but the chime of the clock certainly didnt keep us awake.food was good we had bar meal plenty to eat and drinks were average hotel prices.looking forward to our next stay.

Travelled all the way from Leicester just to come to the Stow Lodge for a meal and as usual had another fantastic meal at The Stow Lodge last night, the service as usual was wonderful and we were both welcomed like old friends. It's lovely to see the Stow Lodge open again after the christmas break, we are both really looking forward to coming again.
