“Lovely cottage”
Reviewed 1 April 2017 for a stay in March 2017

The cottage was just so lovely , very well equipped had everything you needed. A lot of thought has gone into it. We had a wonderful stay, the weather was good. Stow is a lovely place to stay , central for most of the Cotswolds. Thank you again for making our stay so comfortable and enjoyable.

Our second Christmas here & I'm not quite sure that I can add anything to my review last year. My warm feelings for this cottage haven't changed & I can only reiterate how much I love both the cottage & Stow itself & particularly at Christmas. Everything you could possibly want is in the cottage & there really is a magical Christmas atmosphere when the wood burner is glowing & you're sitting watching it with a glass of Red wine in your hand - perfection! I should really add that the ease of booking the cottage with Sarah makes it completely hassle-free! Comprehensive information regarding directions, the cottage, where to eat & drink & the surrounding area is provided. Conclusion - I still "love this place"

“Lovely characterful Cotswold cottage in the centre of Stow”
Reviewed 25 September 2016 for a stay in August 2016

This traditional stone terraced cottage is well situated in the centre of the ancient wool town of Stow on the Wold.
With wobbly flagstone floors as you enter, a 'concealed' staircase in the thickness of the walls and wood burner in the enormous inglenook fire place this is truly a characterful cottage. The sympathetic kitchen extension gives ample room for food preparation and family meals, (all required equipment/crockery supplied) keeping the 'cottage-y' appeal going with slate floors and some freestanding old pine pieces of furniture. Whilst the ground floor is all flags, rugs, cosy sofas and exposed stone/beams the upstairs floors are fully carpeted and very comfortable (not that downstairs is uncomfortable!).
The first floor is accessed via a curved stone staircase from the sitting room (hidden behind a door) up onto a landing. The light and generous twin bedroom makes the best of dual aspect, front and back, has ample storage in wardrobe and drawers together with two comfortable metal framed beds. The comfort of the room could only be improved by the addition of some secondary glazing to the front window, traffic on Sheep Street begins pretty early in the morning and queues up to the traffic lights on the Fosse Way.
The compact bathroom is very well appointed, but the showering space is definitely not for the over-tall - at 5ft 8in my head touched the ceiling when standing in the bath to shower - taller people be prepared to stoop! Hot water via an immersion tank (in the upper bedroom, you become aware of when it comes on in the morning...) was no problem to programme and provided ample for our party of two (mother and adult daughter).
The top floor bedroom is accessed via another steep winding staircase, adding to the charm of the cottage but definitely not for those of a wobbly disposition. The room itself is light, airy and well equipped in a non-chintzy but rustic style (old pine furniture again) with rear facing velux window (roof light) providing ample ventilation for our stay, in which the weather was not blazing hot but of the damp and warmish British variety. The bed was comfortable and attractive (drapes) with plenty of pillows and additional blankets should they be required. No television in either bedrooms, this is a cottage in which people can share their time together and watch the (small) TV in the sitting room downstairs. Would have enjoyed a bigger screen, I must confess, but getting out and about was our priority, not watching TV.
We had occasion to try out the heating as the British weather did its dismal best, the electric heaters seemed to be very efficient and at no time were we chilly - essential when on holiday. We were not adventurous enough to try the wood burner but other visitors seemed to have enjoyed its charms in earlier visits.
The small enclosed courtyard to the rear was adequate but not used due to the weather and our venturing out and about each day. For families with children it at least provides an outside area for small people to scamper in and out of the kitchen, although not a garden for football!
All in all this is a cottage that I would stay in again, whilst being aware of the one major drawback - no designated or off-street parking. Unloading was a feat of strength as I was travelling with my mother (in her 80s) who was definitely not up to lugging suitcases or bags down alleys and along the road. When loading up for the return journey I was prepared and bolder, getting all the bags out onto the footpath before collecting the car and pulling up across the yellow line onto the pavement - work of a few minutes to throw everything into the car, but of course you need at least 2 people to accomplish this manoeuvre, one to guard the bags (Stow on the Wold - noted hot spot for holiday luggage pilfering - NOT!). During our stay we never had a problem finding a parking space relatively near to the cottage, using Back Walls on most days, so it is something to be borne in mind rather than to put one off staying in the accommodation.
We had a great week, Stow is a lovely small town and this cottage was just what we needed.

My husband, two boys and myself stayed in Honey Cottage for a week in June and I cannot recommend it highly enough. The house was so well equipped with all needs catered for. The boys loved the whole experience of staying in a real cotswolds cottage and for anyone thinking about a place to stay in the Cotswolds, this is definately a great location if you are touring around. We highly recommend it!!

I am so pleased your whole family enjoyed it. There are so many things to do and places to visit in the surrounding area but we always struggle to tear ourselves away from Stow itself! Look forward to hearing from you again in the future and thank you so much for your lovely review.

This cottage was perfect for our mini break. It had everything we needed for our relaxing stay. In the days we had breakfast on the patio in the sunshine. We then went walking for miles in the picturesque countryside and had stunning food at the local restaurants in the evening . We would finish the evening off in front of the wood burner ! Bliss. I highly recommend this little gem. We can't wait to return .

“Perfect”
Reviewed 2 April 2016 for a stay in April 2016

A delightful cottage full of character and charm. Lots of original features - which means a twisty staircase and some low heights such as in the bathroom. None of these are an issue and there's plenty of space - it's not 'cosy' meaning cramped! The wood burner is functional not just for show which beats some rentals. There's a bonus of a sun trap of a rear garden which easily sits 4 and is perfect on colder or warmer eves for a glass of wine or a barbecue. The owners provide cleaning products, helpful instructions, guides on local interests, games, books, barbecue and a welcome pack. We've stayed elsewhere in Stow and will return - and happily to exactly this cottage.
