Description: PLEASE NOTE: We will be CLOSED for 2 weeks from Wednesday 10th May, re-opening on MONDAY 22nd MAY. We are an owner operated traditional tearoom. Much of our menu is made here on the premises, including Soups, Dressings, Sauces, Jams and of course all of our cakes and scones. We make everything from basic ingredients, not pre prepared mixes. Our coffee and tea is Fairtrade. The coffee is freshly ground and we use loose leaf tea, with the exception of herbal teas.We aim to source our produce locally as we believe in supporting local suppliers where possible. We also provide a Gluten Free selection of meals, including homemade Gluten Free scones, so a cream tea can be had by everyone!Vegetarian options are always available. We are visited by many customers time and time again, along with strong support from locals who live in the town. Regular hours are 10am to 4.00Pm (5pm Saturdays). Please note we are closed on Sundays and Thursdays. Do ring to check if you are coming from a distance. Bookings for tables is welcomed and often necessary to guarantee a table. Parties catered for.

“Very Nice Lunch!”
Reviewed 16 May 2014

I recently ate a very tasty and well-presented lunch (jacket potato and pot of tea) in this charming tearoom; it was crowded and certainly appears to be a very popular spot! They do accept reservations. It was a little difficult to find, but well worth the effort!

“A special place”
Reviewed 14 May 2014 via mobile

There is a story behind the Old Bakery Tea rooms. It is a sad one, but a thought provoking one at the same time. The owners have had a personal tragedy due to the loss of a dearly loved son Tim. However, as a family they have addressed their grief and found purpose and peace in their lives.
The tea room is a friendly and happy place on a number of levels. It is clean and traditional with appropriate background music. The service is efficient yet relaxed. The food is excellent, plentiful and home made . Tim obviously remains very much part of their family life, and I am sure that Tim will be as proud of what his parents and family have achieved as much as they are proud of him.

Hello Dean S
Thank you for your visit and your comments. We have always shared our story of losing Tom, so that others who may have been through a similar loss, or know others who have, can see that there is hope after a life changing experience. It doesn't mean that it is easy, or that we wouldn't give everything we have to change things back to how they were. As you observed, the tearoom is a happy place and we strive to serve everything to our best ability. We look forward to seeing you next time you are in the area. Best wishes and many thanks Alan & Jackie.

“A Joy to visit”
Reviewed 11 May 2014

This restaurant is always a joy to visit and you are really made to feel at home and the welcome is always warm. The food and service are excellent and the salad that I had on our recent visit was one of the best I have ever had as was the soup enjoyed by my wife. We have in the past enjoyed hot meals at The Old Bakery Tearooms and they are also well presented and enjoyable only using the fresh local produce. My wife and I cannot speak too highly of Alan and Jackie's establishment and a visit is a must whenever we are in Stow-on-the-Wold.

“Excellent”
Reviewed 8 May 2014

Found it almost by accident but what a find. The food was excellent - the service first class. Put this on your list of places to eat while you're in the Cotswolds. Definitely recommend the steak brunch.

Hello R60lam
Many find us by accident!! Being tucked away and not being able to see our front door from the road does have its disadvantages, but we are well signed and at least we don't get traffic noise! Great that you enjoyed your meals with us - steak brunch is always popular and freshly cooked to order with local steak from a local butcher has to be a good choice. Thank you for your visit and your comments. Best wishes. Alan & Jackie

“A fine tearoom with excellent service”
Reviewed 6 May 2014 via mobile

This tearoom does excellent lunches with fresh salads and very substantial portions. It is quite small and rightly popular so worth booking. The attention paid by the host was excellent, despite the tearoom being full. I had a good ploughman with good smoked cheddar (there is a choice). The steak brunch and ham and cheese melts also went down well. Worth visiting for cream teas too, judging by the contented looks on the faces of those who had them.

Hi africaguy
Thanks for taking the time to review your visit with us. Fresh food and good portions is what we like to do, so glad that you appreciated your meal. It doesn't always leave room for a cream tea - but another time! We love seeing guests come in hungry and go away contented - as it should be. Many thanks. Alan & Jackie
