“Fantastic value for money, Great venue”
Reviewed 17 December 2013

Me and 14 of my friends stayed in the hotel Friday 6th to Sunday 9th December. We rented the whole hotel and it worked out just over £100 each. It was such a fantastic venue, for my friends 30th. We bought food and drink with us and didn't leave the hotel all week end. There was no need. We had our own bar. There were 13 bedrooms, 11 en-suite so we all had a room to ourselves. The place was so big it was fantastic. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the place. In fact we are hoping to head back there ourselves next year! Michelle who we dealt with to organise and secure the booking was fantastic.

A very belated review as wasnt aware this was on the site before now! Came last October to celebrate my 40th birthday on a self catering basis, hiring the whole place and I think we were one of the first groups into the new property. The house is absolutely lovely, bedrooms and bathrooms are all well decorated and clean, the main areas are the same, quite a contemporary feel to the decor. The little bar area is a gem and the kitchen is large and well equipped. Outside areas are good and think it would be lovely as a summer break. The manager who met us was extremely friendly and helpful and the whole booking process was easy and they answered any questions quickly and efficiently - which was so helpful considering I was trying to coordinate the whole thing for 20 people! The only negative I had was that there was a caretaker on site all the time, living in and he asked us to keep the noise down on the 2nd night which was a bit of a niggle as this was the whole reason we had hired somewhere on a self catering, exclusive use basis - I'm not sure if this is still the case or was a temporary arrangement - dont get me wrong, he was friendly and helpful, but we are a noisy group and I wasnt aware there would be someone on site all the time, not what we wanted, but it didnt detract from the whole experience - price wise it is incredibly good value and I wouldnt hesitate to recommend it to others.

Reviewed 27 September 2013 via mobile

We booked via Laterooms and stated an arrival time of 8pm, not unusual. After a journey from hell we were looking forward to arriving at the hotel and getting some rest. We arrived half an hour later than planned and thought it rather strange that the hotel was in total darkness and the car park was empty. Nevertheless we parked up and approached the entrance door which was locked. We rang the bell, had a look through numerous windows but the place was empty!! We then called the number on the website and could hear it ring inside, but nobody answered. The inside looked nice, at least what we could see so with bitter disappointment we left and found Accomodation elsewhere which was splendid. It was fortunate we were able to make alternative arrangements, and that we had not paid in advance. This is really inexcusable though and the total lack of any communication suggests a total disregard for guests. I won't waste my time booking next time. I have scored this hotel on the basis of the poor service received and the fact the room, however nice looking from the outside is useless if you can't get in. When I got home I wrote an email of complaint but have not received any reply.

We stayed here on a group trip to the Cotswolds. Rooms were good... clean, comfy and modern, however there wasnt any soap in the bathroom which is a bit of a problem if you dont travel with it.
Friendly service and a nice breakfast... very basic but nice. A good location although Stroud doesnt have much to offer. We went to Sorrento restaurant for dinner which was great - true Italian food!

frendly welcome , very clean , and comftable, stayed 2 nights mid week , chef did very nice breakfast, will stay again when in area, only thing i think they can improve on is getting a light by front door , not easy to see lock when coming back after dark , and a kettle in your room , you can make your own tea downstairs, but i prefer making it the room , so next time will take my travle kettle with me . highly recomended if you are looking for a quite mid week base,

We stayed in No.134 on the weekend, so didn't use it as a hotel. For 16 girls on a weekend away, we nearly all had our own rooms (majority has en suites too), it was exceptionally clean and had all the facilities you would expect when hiring a house. We were able to prepare food for two evening meals and used the living area for drinks and nibbles before either making a short walk into town or taking a taxi ride to Cheltenham (25 mins). Easy to find from the M4 and only an hour and a half from London by train. Excellent!

I would recommend this as an interesting alternative to a chain hotel, in particular for its contemporary decor, comfortable rooms and lounges, and very friendly service. It still has the air of a fledgling business. The phone was not answered when I rang to enquire, and I found the rates were less than advertised on the website (the hotel would do well to rectify both of these things to stop enquirers being put off). The building was not always obviously staffed, which was rather strange. Breakfast is very traditional. A simple continental breakfast alternative might be an idea. Location is good for accessing Stroud, and also visiting Gloucestershire as a tourist, though it is certainly not situated in a tourist spot. Give it a go. It's fun!
