“This is the place to hold a family and friend's party !”

We were a party of 13 adults, 4 kids ( aged 3 - 10 ) and two babies. We were celebrating Sue's 60th birthday bash and we wanted to do it in style. We hired both adjoining barns and it proved to be the best short stay break we've ever had. The main living area's in each barn conversion consisting of open plan lounge / dining / kitchen were beautifully furnished to a high standard. The open space was fantastic and the magnificaent large open fireplaces provided a cosy atmosphere in the evening ( along with some excellent wines and beers ! )
All of the rooms in both barns are beautifully decorated to a high standard and most of them included an en-suite or wet room as well.
Outside a small barn contained table tennis facilities and a pool table which both kids and adults enjoyed. There are some lovely country walks in and around the barns too.
One of the highlights for me was the owner of the barns offering to give my grandson Sam a ride round in a real tractor. Sam who's 3 years old is tractor / combine harvester / ride on mower / etc etc mad, so it made his holiday.
All in all we had a fabulous 3 nights stay in total relaxation and I cannot give enough praise to the owner and his wife for looking after our every need in making this a fabulous holiday rental.
We're already talking about whose birthday it is next so we can visit here again.
Once again, thank you.

“Five-star for family gathering”
Reviewed 20 January 2013 for a stay in October 2012

Thanks to Doughton Cottages, we enjoyed a superb weekend in this lovely area, getting all the family together for a 60th birthday reunion. As 15 adults and one toddler, we rented out both cottages together. There is so much to write about this place, I'll try to summarise why we would recommend this as a top-class self catering:

- Great location, loved walking around the farm to see the friendly ducks, and more track behind the farm for walking.
- So practical, the hosts have thought of everything and we were made to feel so welcome we felt as though we could have approached the owners had we had any difficulties (we didn't). Several sets of wellies left in the utility rooms to borrow is a great touch!
- Interconnecting cottages perfect for our large party, but we could see how private it would be as 2 separate residences too. Lots of crockery/cutlery etc.
- Main living area of Pantiles huge and very good for socialising with space for everyone
- Very child friendly and safe, stairgates not needed as you could just close off the doors to the stairs
- Spotless and absolutely lovely feel with large, light, airy rooms, and plenty of bathrooms!
- We hired Peter Vepers to cater a special meal - absolutely perfect and allowed us all to let our hair down and have a very special evening.
We felt Doughton was great value and would definitely put this at the top of self-catering standard - we couldn't have asked for any more!!

“Lovely pair of cottages for family get together”
Reviewed 2 December 2012 for a stay in December 2012

Our family group of 16 have enjoyed a wonderful weekend in the interconnecting Docecote and Pantiles cottages. The age range of our group was age 1 to 76 with a big mixture of adults and children spanning three generations. It has suited our needs perfectly, giving us plenty of space for each family group to have their privacy but with very large communal areas us to get together for meals. The bedrooms are well thought out, most of them with ensuite shower rooms, and the area outside of the cottages is really beautiful with a lake, ducks and lots of beautiful farmland. The owners are warm, friendly, and kind and we really appreciated their home-made cake that was here to welcome us. As it was a special occasion, we took up the optional extra and had the local chef, Peter, make and serve us a special celebration meal which was a real treat. We'd all love to return to Doughton Cottages to make it a regular family vacation

“An outstanding place to stay”
Reviewed 2 November 2012 for a stay in November 2012

Our third visit and we would still go back again. Hired both cottages for our large gathering of friends and their family (and dog). Huge shared open fired lounge with kitchen in larger property (plus a minstrels' gallery which all kids find irresistible), smaller version in other cottage. Kitchens both well equipped and spacious; lots of bedrooms with en-suites; small walled gardens to keep control of smaller kids.
Overall a lovely place to kick back and use as a base to explore the Western Cotswolds

“Wonderful place to stay for my first trip to the Cotswolds”
Reviewed 23 April 2012 for a stay in April 2012

We were a mixed group of adults and children, and had both of the properties, which was great as the kids had a play room, and the adults had a play room. Very clean rooms, plenty of crockery, cutlery, glasses etc, and two massive cookers, which made cooking for all of us very easy. Just a shame that the weather meant we couldn't get out and do a few more walks, but it's a beautiful part of the country and we'll definitely be back.
