We had booked in for last nigh tot stay at the hotel for a pretty good DBB deal but were involved in a car accident the day of arrival and could not make it, stuck in Chester overnight instead. Sadly, the
receptionist would not refund our payment, leaving us with a massive car bill and a night's accommodation down the drain! A little bit of compassion please, Snooty Fox!

We stayed at the Snooty Fox in March 2007 and found it to be a little tired. Having stayed there a few years ago, I was looking forward to a repeat visit. Sadly, the money that the owners clearly sweep into their coffers, given the price of an overnight stay, has not been reinvested into the rooms.
Our 'deluxe' room was badly in need of some TLC. The condition of the lumpy mattress was only beaten by the seventies decor of the bathroom.
However, the staff were friendly, the bar accomodating and the food excellent.

We stayed at the Snooty Fox for the second time in July 2006. Our first time (June 1999) was in one of the '4-Poster' bedrooms, a True Luxury Suite, very large, with real, vintage oil paintings and a huge bathroom. They have always been very nice and the service, food is excellent. Each bathroom features 'rubber ducks' on the tub and that gave us a laugh. This visit they put us in one of the rooms at the back of the hotel and it was quiet but, not as luxurious. Our 'best night' was spent playing Monopoly (on a British version game board) in the front dining room, eating dinner on the game, drinking Bloody Marys and having a great time. We were all alone in the mini dining room with wood paneled walls and fireplace so, it was like a 'private party' in a castle- we had a blast. Their "Full English" Breakfast is a treat and the food has always been exemplary. But, this is not a 'cheap' hotel. You truly 'get what you pay for' in the UK! ( The Close, across the street is much more expensive; and one has to ask: is it really worth the extra $$?). For those that want to spend time in the Snooty Fox Bar it is cozy and Also service is great...you can also sit outside (weather permitting) and the porch is comfortable. The hotel is centrally located across from the Town Center/ Basket Market (which is only open 1-2 days a week). Parking on the street was easy and we found out the constable only comes once a week so, we never had to worry about a parking ticket- like we got in downtown Hastings for $120. We actually turned our rental car around, on a trip further North, and came back to Tetbury for another nights stay as it is a clean, wonderful town filled with really great antique shops..conversely, the trip up to the Cotswolds was very disappointing. The Towns/Villages are beautiful up there but, thanks to websites like this- they are now k.n.o.w.n by every Tom, Dick and YingLu ... FILLED with Tour Buses and foreigners swarming like bee's, with camera's around their necks, packing the shops and streets. It took all 'the charm' away. We made a beeline back to Tetbury. Bought 3 really nice 19th CenturyOil Paintings and had wonderful meals. Also Reccommend: Priority Inn for superior meals and wine list, just around the corner from Snooty Fox. And, The Welcome Chair Tea Room for Lunch, also around the corner: DON'T use your cellphone there. Great Lunch's and very nice lady owner & father.
