This is a wonderful hotel, especially if you have young children, who are well catered for and made to feel very welcome. The food was lovely and the staff couldnt do enough to help. Little extras provided in the rooms such as age-appropriate toys and books for the kids, and baby shampoo and nappy sacks in the bathrooms also.

Our room was comfortable but together with the ensuite bathroom was dreary and in need of modernisation. I also think this applies to the restaurant but it was a popular place to eat and had a good choice of meals. The staff were friendly and helpful but a bit scarce when we stayed for 4 nights in March 2012- reception was not manned, there was nobody to serve our breakfast one morning, and our room was not serviced one day. This hotel may be more suited to people who want an overnight stay rather than a relaxing mid-week break.

We stayed in November 2011 with our 2 months old baby. It was our first holiday away with baby and we were a bit nervous. Prior to our arrival, we notified the hotel we would require a travel cot. The hotel exceeded our expectations - not only the cot was placed in the room, we also found changing mat, baby toiletories, and several toys scattered around the room. The room was spacious and comfortable. We took the half board package and had dinner at the hotel restaurant both nights. Service was very friendly and attentive, and the food was delicious. Breaskfast was also amazing, the bread was toasted in the stone oven! It was a superb experience and we will highly recommend this hotel. Cons: There is no lift in the hotel, and we had to lift our buggy up and downstairs. However the hotel has rooms on the ground floor as well.

Room Tip: Hotel has rooms on the ground floor - for wheelchair users and families with buggy/pram.

We stayed overnight on Saturday and had an excellent dinner, and very good breakfast. The rooms could do with a little refurbishment; bathroom tiling needing some care etc. but overall the room was comfortable, beds firm and a good size. Bathroom was quite small but adequate. Extra large good quality towels - unusual to find and very welcome! Heating was good and controllable, which is worth knowing during the colder weather. The local sourcing of food is a big plus and everything we ate was testament to quality and care, with interesting menus. Next time we go, we will share a starter - they are quite large. All staff we met were helpful and friendly but professional. I do agree with the reviewer Sammi517 about the recycling bin - I applaud the ethic of recycling but I think they could maybe put the recycling bin into something more appealing and in keeping with the decor, which incidentally is tasteful and relaxing. I like the art displayed around the hotel too.

Attentive staff, amazing pizza's, no ingredients travelled more than 30 miles, a superb log file, comfy chairs, brilliant atmosphere. What more could you ask for, other than perhaps en-suite rooms. Well yep, they have those as well, they need a little refreshing, but spacious and everything you could ask for including huge fluffy towels. Breakfast, well I skipped that but looked amazing. Downside, seems a shame to say, but no WIFI, somethign essential for me as a business traveller.

My partner and I stayed one Saturday night at The Priory. A little disappointed on arrival. External facade in need of renovation. Staff friendly. Room was OK, again needs decorating, furniture chipped, bedspread had small marks on and what an ugly, blue plastic recycling bin! Our room was on the top floor towards the back and seemed to have a generator or something noisy underneath which switched off past midnight. My own bedroom at home far quiter and cosy (why bother staying away). Bathroom was tiny with minimum shower products and instructions on how to adjust shower temperature were not obvious. What made it good for us was the fab bar and restaurant. Very good quality food with excellent, efficient and friendly staff. We would only go back for that part, but to be honest I'm sure there are far nicer, and quiter places to stay in The Cotwolds. Management, please look at hotel decor, you have fab staff that are let down.

We stayed here for a wedding nearby in November last year.
The bar and restaurant areas were immaculate and we found all staff to be pleasant and extremely friendly. The young lady who checked us in was very helpful.

The room itself was spacious and very clean and the bed was very comfortable, although I found that the bathroom was a little small.
I feel that for the price we paid, I would have expected a few more little extras in the room.
The food is of a very high quality and I was so glad to hear that it is over 90% locally sourced, which is fantastic. The food was extremely well presented and you could tell that the chefs were of a high standard.

The only two things that niggled me were we found that at breakfast we were pretty much left alone by the staff, we arrived in good time both mornings but found it difficult to get the attention of the staff for coffee and breakfast orders etc..

There was some maintenance being carried out in the room next to ours during our stay which the staff were very apologetic about (we were out for most of the day so weren't really bothered). Where our room was on the ground floor and the window did not have net curtains, everyone walking past our window to use the fire escape could see in to our room. We had to get ready for the wedding with the curtains closed which wasn't ideal.

A very lovely hotel overall, just a bit pricey for the experience we had.
Would return, but not at full price.
