“A comfortable stay with a great breakfast!”
Reviewed 12 April 2013

We stayed for one night whilst attending a wedding. The room was comfortable. The bed was very comfortable with lovely feather bedding. I expected more from the room, maybe a bit bigger, having paid for a deluxe double. However, having read the website room descriptors again it appears that the only difference is a bath with a shower rather than just a shower. There is a full length mirror in the bathroom which I greatly appreciated!
There is a nice bar to get a drink in. Breakfast was lovely! A great selection!
With prior arrangement we were allowed to use a room to get changed in before the wedding at no extra cost. This was a lovely touch that the hotel did not have to agree to.
All in all, I can't fault the hotel, there was nothing wrong and the £90 we paid is in line with what you expect to pay now.

Stayed here over the easter weekend on a package 2 night stay. Nice location.
Room: (stable room 15) Tired and in need of a lick of paint. The kettle has to be placed on the floor to be used and lights, toilet room holder and bracket all hanging of the walls. Not sound proof, so i would advise to not stay in this room over the summer as you are above the bar courtyard. Heating went on and off throughout the stay so it would go from freezing to boiling out throughout the night. The shower (no bath) was faulty on the second night, waste water coming back up through the drain after it has been used, not our water! We were offered to change rooms but it was 9:30pm on our last night.
Restaurant: Starters came and mine was still frozen in the middle and when it was replaced it has been blasted in the microwave so it was now burnt. The main course was also over cooked with too much dressing and salt which had started to dry tot he side of the plate.
Breakfast was ok but again on both mornings the poached eggs were not cooked.
To finish our stay we were given a £250 bill for our stay, which i had already payed, and had to wait and produce original payment slip before we could leave.

We quite enjoyed our stay here, the room was quite comfortable, the bed was lovely with feather duvet and pillows, but the biggest problem we had in Room 9 was that it was cold. It seems that the radiator is not working correctly. A small heater had been provided but I feel that the radiator should be fixed. The bathroom was also cold and the shower could do with being updated. Also, the corridor to the room seems to have a serious damp or rot problem with a strange smell, which was not so pleasant. I was also a little perplexed when my partner ordered a decaffeinated coffee at breakfast and was told that it would cost extra - despite decaff being listed as inclusive in the breakfast price.... The hairdryer could also do with being changed - it required firm pressure on the button to keep it working and when it takes 10 minutes to dry your hair that is quite frustrating! I do not want to seem too harsh. The room was very comfortable and nicely decorated. I just feel small things are letting the place down a bit!

We stayed at this hotel for a wedding at The Matara. The hotel and room were absolutely lovely and the level of service that we received was unbelievable. The breakfast was well made and of great quality. There was a lovely relaxed atmosphere to the hotel. The owner of the hotel was in the bar when we were trying to get a taxi to the wedding. There were no taxi's so he gave us a lift to the wedding. This a hidden little gem in Tetbury. Well worth a stay. Highly recommended

We were given two days in this hotel as a Christmas present by our Son and his wife. What a good present it turned out to be! The owner, Iain greeted us warmly and showed us to our room which was very clean, comfortable and although not large, was functional. We decided to eat in the hotel that evening after a recce round some of the other hotels and restaurants in Tetbury. We made an excellent choice. Iain, a keen cyclist was hosting a group of his cycling friends in the bar and the atmosphere was great, very lively and we felt at home. The cyclists ate in the restaurant and we ate in the warm, cosy bar. I ordered the Thai Red Curry and it was one of the best I have eaten. My wife thoroughly enjoyed the generous portion of duck she was given. The service was excellent, friendly, chatty and attentive.
The breakfast next morning, gave a very wide choice and the standard was first class.
I would have no hesitation in recommending The Ormond as a friendly, comfortable hotel in Tetbury with food of a very high standard.

We stayed for two nights. Bathroom was very small, but had everything we needed. Restaurant food was very good and the staff very friendly. I left my diamond earrings behind the day we left - and they were quickly returned to me by recorded delivery - very honest people! Would definitely stay here again.

We used a KGB deal for a 2 night break and thoroughly enjoyed our time there. The room was quiet, fairly small but newly decorated with a good shower room. . Breakfast was good and we ate in the restaurant on both nights. The menu was extensive, not cheap but good value.
Only downside is the lack of parking. It is best to go first to the hotel and unload your luggage and take their directions to the free car park and then about 6/7 minutes walk back up a very steep hill. We visited Coventry from there to visit the Cathedral.
The staff were particularly friendly and helpful.
