“Birthday Dinner”
Reviewed 2 June 2013

This is the second time we have eaten at this lovely resturant and now that we have moved to Tetbury we hope to enjoy many more tasty meals here. It was a very busy evening but our needs were met and the staff were very helpful. Good choice of different food and lovely atmosphere in the conservatory. Looking forward going back again soon.

“Nothing above average”
Reviewed 18 March 2013

This was our first visit to calcot and on arriving it was very well presented. The restaurant looked really nice and the young waiter was welcoming. All the staff seemed nice but that was about it. There service just just abit slow and we had to ask to make a drink order in the end because no one bothered and thus was after our starters. The sourdough bread was nice, not as strong in flavour as some but still pleasant. We ordered the scotch quails egg and mixed charcuterie to start. Was disappointed with the egg as it was overcooked and cost £4.00 for one. The charcuterie was again ok nut had nothing to cut through all the aficionado of the picalilli and other pickled. Have had more flavorsome cured meats before also. Main course was ok, again nothing special. The dessert was probably the biggest let down. We have the sharing plate which just seemed like a normal sized dessert for £12. Ti start of with the plate was dirty all around the rim something that you could get away with in a pub but not really in a fine dining restaurant. The 'mousse' was very dense and didn't really have that friut kick and wasn't very light. The caramel croutons were a nice surprise but everything didn't seem to really work as a whole. Will try the gumstool one day but not in any rush. Places I'd rather go looking for the same thing around here would be either mark@street or wild garlic in nailsworth or chefs table or the trouble house in tetbury.

“Fine food”
Reviewed 25 February 2013

my wife and I went to celebrate her birthday the meal and food were very good but because of being a chef down there were some problems. Service was slow and my wife's lemon sole arrived still on the bone and without caper sauce so had to be sent back. our dessert was so slow coming we complained to waitress and on paying the bill was told this was not charged for.
All in all it was a pretty good experience and we will be going again.
Cost wise it was fairly good considering quality of food.
