“Fantastic Home Away From Home”
Reviewed 20 November 2012

The lodge is beautiful, and offers spacious & comfortable accommodation. Its much bigger than the pictures suggest. Very comfy beds & sofa's, and there are games/books/DVDs provided if you don't take your own. There is also WiFi access, as the mobile phone signal is non-existent, so you can easily use Skype instead.

Myself and a few friends stayed for a weekend in Nov 2012 just to get away from things and relax. It was fantastic - the owners couldn't have been more friendly & accommodating, offering use of the hot tub, visits to meet their horses/etc, and when disaster struck (the boiler broke down - one of those things!) they had an engineer in to fix it straight away - so it didn't ruin our stay, even cooking the group a complimentary full english breakfast as an apology!

Lots of beautiful walks or cycle routes, theres also a local pub (a long walk or short drive away), and some take away food options from the local town.

Pinnock Lodge is perfect for friends, couples, or a family. We'll definitely be visiting them again in 2013!

Room Tip: All rooms have glorious high ceilings & excellent daylight. There is a kingsize bedroom, and a...

We have recently spent a week at Pinnock Lodge, and can thoroughly recommend it for a peaceful break. The Lodge is ideally situated for visiting some of the lovely villages and towns that make up the Cotswolds e.g. Bourton on the Water, Broadway, Stow on the Wold, Winchcombe, The Slaughters. We had a bit of a job to find it initially, but it was worth it in the end!

The Lodge is large and roomy with plenty of storage space for a family, or if staying for longer than we did. It is beautifully furnished with lots of pine and has everything you could want for a comfortable stay. There are steps up to the entrance of the lodge, and from the terrace area down to the lawn, so may not be too good for anyone with mobility problems, although there are handrails in both cases.

It has a fairly large lawned area at the front, which would be handy for a family to spread out a bit, although it could be made safer with the addition of some fencing to enclose it and separate it from the driveway which goes to the owner's cottage in one direction, and on to the (fairly)quiet lane in the other. It would also be better for people taking their dog with them! The pot plants would also have been better removed, as they were either dead or dying due to very dry weather and no water!

I would suggest taking a supply of toilet rolls and dishwasher tablets with you, especially if you are a family, as there would only be enough to last a day. We also thought that the very nice, but chunky Denby style crockery (mainly the cereal/soup bowls) would have taken up too much space in the dishwasher, and we ended up buying some washing up liquid and washing up as we went, as we were only two people! A family would probably need to use the dishwasher after every meal to keep up with the demand for crockery!

The only thing we found not so good was the can opener, which was well past its best! We did point this out to the owner on our departure, and would expect that it has been replaced. However, it may be worth taking your own if you plan to eat beans etc!

We would always go for a holiday cottage which has the owner on site, or close by as we find that they tend to be far better looked after, and any problems can be sorted out at the time.

All in all, a very enjoyable holiday.

Stayed 4 nights at Pinnock Lodge with our 2 young daughters age 3 and 1. We were pleasantly surprised on our arrival.

It had 2 huge bedrooms each with an ensuite. The master consisited of a large king size bed and the 2nd bedroom had a further large kingsize bed that could be converted in to 2 single beds as well as a further single bed (which our 3yr old used).

The lounge area was very comfortable with 2x 3 seater setee's and a large country style dining table.

The kitchen was on the small size but it had everything in it you require for a comfortable and practical self catering stay ie dishwasher, washing machine, clothes dryer, hoover etc.

The interior was by no means modern or contemporary but was clean, comfortable and very practical with a 'country' feel and we especially liked the pretty country bedding.

The lodge had a wonderful large garden where our girls were able to run and play outside, Plus, as the lodge is on a working family farm and we were invited to visit their animals which was a great treat. They also brought us some freshly laid free range eggs on our 2nd day (which tasted great). We were also welcome to use their childrens outdoor play area.

The owners were welcoming and helpful and it seemed nothing was too much trouble.

Even though the lodge was not too far from their property, it felt very much private.

As we were so comfortable and had plenty of room, we invited my parents to stay with us for 1 of the nights. This was no problem to the owners.

The only few complaints we did have would be:
1) the toilet seat hinges - they were plastic and therefore, the toilet seat would slide as it was sat on which was a little surprising at times.
2) no dishwasher tablets provided (until my parents brought some).
3) An appropriate provision of toilet paper in each loo would have been appreciated. Rather than one loo roll running out on the 1st night and having to purchase more on day two.
4) it would have been great if the windows were clean outside.
5) a freshly mowed lawn would have been preferred.

We booked Pinnock Lodge with jigsawholidays.co.uk and paid just over £100 pn. In our opinion, it was money well spent.

We wouldn't hesitate at recommending Pinnock Lodge be it for 2 people or for a family of 5.

  • Liked — huge space for our littles ones to explore and run around
  • Disliked — toilet seat hinges
