“Great food, reasonable room, friendly service, staff with a sense of humour!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 17 December 2011

Our room was a bit noisy at first in the early evening as the bar was directly underneath us, but when we went down for early evening drinks we were greeted with grins all round and a free pint from the barman ("gotta keep yer strength up mate"); apparently we gave as good as we got with the noise pollution when our horizontal exertions made the ceiling creak to the severe amusement of the drinkers in the bar! It was a bit embarrassing, I'm not so good in the bedroom department, all my mates can do it in 2 minutes but it take me half an hour!! Sorry customers!

Sadly last orders for food were 19.30 that night as Sunday Lunch had been so busy the kitchen supplies were exhausted, so we sought our evening entertainment elsewhere and ended up in a midnight curry house with a Vindaloo face pack as ever. . . .

Breakfast very nice, a bit on the skimpy side but GREAT quality. We returned the following Sunday for lunch, which was super; nothing was too much trouble, my girlfriend is allergic to cheese and cream etc, so the chef made a tomato and basil sauce to replace a creamy one, all knocked up in 5 mins and heavenly! Well done:-))

Just an overnight stay. Room large and high ceilinged - converted from the old coaching area perhaps? Spacious if tired bathroom. Delightful bar with log fire, and good menu, including a new gluten-free one much appreciated by this celiac. Good if average breakfast. Very friendly and helpful staff. Biggest drawback was the lack of parking, though I guess the old coaches were easily accommodated! Parked at the free public car park 50m up the street - there's a 3 hour area and a 23 hour area. A place eventually opened up in the 23 area and we were then able to go off for the rest of the day to hike.

Only stayed at The Swan Hotel for one very noisy saturday night! Although good value for money, paying £65 for a double room (including a good full english breakfast) and £5 for the dog to stay. The welcome was very warm and staff were friendly, We had an evening meal in the resturant, and the food was nice with a nice selection of real ales- excellent service.
A problem with the bathroom light was quickly fixed, after we'd checked in, apart from this the room although in need of repair was clean and ok for £65 per night.
The noise for us was the only real issue that let the room down. It was Saturday night, with live music on in the pub across the road and a busy bar down stairs until at least midnight. And then woken up at 5am by a van, music on full blast, pulling out of the yard just below our window.

Just an overnight stay on the Cotswold Way.Liked the casual atmosphere and the very friendly welcome.Pity the power went off and on and off and finally on at 9pm but not the fault of the Inn.
Accompanied by my 36 year old son we were upgraded from a twin to two single rooms and they were fine.Yes, could do with a slap of paint, but at £32.50 per room and a great full English B/fast what do you want ?
These old country inns are in desperate need of support or they will be some rich blokes house in a couple of years and then where are you going to stay?
This one is warm, friendly, clean, serves very nice pub grub with some surprisingly good specials at great prices and a good range of real ales.
Forgot to mention they have an A La Cart Restaurant as well,
although we did not sample it seemed to be doing well even on a Wednesday night.

Room Tip: Our rooms were fairly quiet except for the idiot who drove out of the Inn yard at 5am as if Custom a...

The room we stayed in was in much need of major repair/refurbishment. We could not close the windows property, so could not block out the noise coming from the pub down the road, Very thing walls/floors, we could hear every word of the guests in the rooms next to us and above us, and when they used the stairs and bathrooms, doors.
We stayed on Saturday night used the bar, had dinner in the restaurant and breakfast the next day, all of which were excellent. The staff were all very friendly and efficient. Shame the quality of the rooms let down an otherwise nice place to stay in a lovely little town.

Room Tip: Bring ear plugs

After 15 minutes of wandering around looking for staff in restaurant, bar and reception we gave up. Odd looks from locals.

Shame as restaurant and menu looked great.
