Although a mile from Burley centre, the cottage is actually in Burley Street, there is a very good footpath which you can use to access the village centre.
The Lodge is in an excellent position to travel by road to lots of places, Winchester, Salisbury as well as the New Forest Villages.
The Lodge is extremely comfortable loads of space for two, but there is lots of space for four adults.
You can walk up the front path and be straight in the Forest, lots of lovely ponies.
The Cottage has all appliances, as well as a really efficient Wood Burning Stove which was a delight to have on in the Evenings.
For us it was the perfect base from which to strike out in all directions.
Nicely tucked away and not overlooked.
Interior is cosy and well equippped
Would happily return for a stay if we head that way of the world again.
Jane met us when we arrived and was extremely friendly and welcoming. The property exceeded our expectations - it was lovely, immaculately presented, comfortable and lots of little thoughtful touches to make it feel like home. And the garden is beautiful on the edge of Burley with the village on one side and woodland walks on the other. The welcome gifts were very thoughtful - milk, fresh farm eggs, apple cake and a bottle of cider! The kitchen is well equipped with a dishwasher & washing machine. And the games room was a big plus - my son loved playing snooker every day! The wifi is excellent - very strong signal and did not drop once (unlike mine at home!).
But the tv signal is very poor - we were out during the day so didn't mind and in the evening we watched tv/films via my laptop which was fine as the wifi is so good. Also - a word of warning - if you are on EE mobile service you will not have any signal in the house or the garden - but a few minutes walk up towards the woods to the right and as soon as you go into Burley itself the signal is normal. This was not a problem as I just logged onto the wifi and used WhatsAp for calls and then used my mobile normally when we went out each day. Vodafone signal apparently does work here perfectly well as there is better coverage.
We have had a wonderfully relaxing time at Kenchington Lodge - it is one of the nicest places we have stayed in England and Jane was the perfect host - welcoming when we arrived and then allowed us to just enjoy our time here - but available if/when we needed.
I highly recommend Kenchington Lodge as either a very comfortable and well located base to explore the New Forest - you have wonderful walks all around the house and most of the well known places are nearby (such as the wonderful Moors Valley Country Park just 15 mins away - perfect if you have kids) and close to beaches. A big Sainsbury's is just a 15 minute drive away and there are all the main shops in Christchurch - 20 minutes drive - with a good sized Waitrose on the outskirts. Or as a country retreat to just unwind and relax - you could happily stock up on groceries and then just spend all your time in the house and garden with the odd walk up to the woods just a few minutes from the garden gate - the garden is split into 2 and is big enough for kids to play and there is the games room if the weather is not great. And you can wander or drive into Burley for a drink at one of the pubs or some ice cream/cake in one of the lovely little cafes.
A perfect New Forest home from home and Jane and her lovely property really deserve all the high ratings and positive comments.
