Stattons Hotel is not new but is built into an older building with an unpretentious exterior but when you step inside - WOW! Everyone associated with this hotel is dedicated to making your stay with them as great as possible. Us first-time visitors to England needed directions/advice and got it whenever we asked. Need a great restaurant - immediate suggestions for several different food types - and directions, too. Going to a football game? Helpful advice on how to get there and where to go. The morning staff should be used as a model for hotels everywhere on how to serve fabulous breakfasts and make guests feel right at home. They plan to open a restaurant to serve the 4 hotels in the Mercer group in Portsmouth - it will most likely be impossible to get into it once people find out how good the food is.
The young lady (Ellie) that greeted us on our (very weary) arrival was so pleasant and helpful that we forgot all about a VERY long day of travel from the US. And what a nice room - quiet, very clean, large bed and a very nice bathroom. The reviews of Stattons are right on the mark, this is an excellent hotel and one that I would recommend to anyone planning to stay 1 night or a week.

Stayed here for one night prior to taking the ferry to Bilbao, the hotel is comfortable. We had a room in the basement which was ok but you can hear everything above in the dining room bar area...it is noisy re the people walking on the floor and especially when setting up the tables in the morning etc which starts early.
The dining room is quite stylish but cool. No entry to rooms until late afternoon. The breakfast was varied and enjoyable.
Taxi to shops was 6 pounds , didn't get chance to walk down the promanade as the weather was poor.

Room Tip: Pick one above the restaurant

Thank you for your review, we are glad you found the hotel comfortable. We are glad you liked the dining area and style of the rooms plus breakfast.

Just to clarify for readers, check in time is 3pm, the larger shopping area is indeed a taxi ride away though we also have a smaller one a 7 minute walk away and the promenade is a 2 minute walk.

best wishes

The statons was a last minute booking for work in Porthsmouth. The hotel was very well decorated and very comfortable. The staff were very welcoming and friendly. My only complaint is my female workmate was put in aground floor room with a window that did not shut. The staff sorted the problem out quickly when asked. I will be coming back when I'm in the area.

Room Tip: All the room are beautiful

Thank you for your review, we are glad you enjoyed the stay overall. We are surprised to hear about the window in one of our new ground floor rooms but glad to see it was a problem that was resolved immediately so did not affect the guest's stay.

Best regards

Had the pleasure of a stay here last night. The hotel itself is beautiful, and the room was finished to a high standard. All the staff were great, Nick who checked us in and also served us in the bar was very helpful and friendly. Will definitely return in the future

Last night I experienced travel headaches of the worst kind followed by the easy warmth of a very late night welcome at Stattons Hotel. What a relief it was to be met by Ellie's smiling face when I eventually pitched up on the doorstep, well past midnight. What a sense of ease when I stepped into my lovely, large aqua-toned bedroom. And what a sense of luxury when I stepped out of the shower into the fluffiest towel ever. Thank you Stattons for providing me with the comfort and ease of home after an arduous day and nightmare journey - and for providing me with just what I needed, a warm welcome and a very good night's sleep.

We stayed at the Stattons for three nights. Our room was lovely, well decorated and inviting.
The hotel is situated in a prime position. Easy walking access to the promenade. There is plenty to do in the vicinity and several restaurants are within easy reach.
Off road parking facilities are great.
There were only two things that can be improved. Firstly with the onset of getting dark early, we found the approach to the front door which is by several steps could be made easier and safer if the building was better lit to make going up and down the steps better. The ground below the steps consisted of broken tiles and it made it difficult to walk on. These can be quite easily changed.
Secondly the ashtray by the front door was full of cigarette ends. This was like that throughout our stay. It would have been nice to see that the ashtray was emptied frequently.
These are little things but they do make a big difference in the overall appreciation of the hotel stay experience.
In my opinion the hotel will not be suitable for someone without full mobility.

Easy to find and a gem with its own car park which is a must as residents parking surrounds. Quaint conversion of an old property, excellent services, friendly team and a good mid week price of £79 for a double room with bath. Bed excellent, bath quirky but no shower possible as it's in the middle of the bedroom in front of the window. Left early and the service team made up an excellent go bag... Can't wait to stay over again. @RickyLionheart
