“noise noise noise...”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 4 January 2013

after having stop overs at several Premier Inns .. the noise levels from upstairs were awful- very difficult to get any sleep with children.... TV from next door is easily heard once you settle down for the night. IF you must stay here, ensure you get a 1st floor room, and there are no |TVs to either side

Room Tip: ask for a first floor room so there are no flat footed hippos upstairs

we booked at P.I. East because we have stayed there before and we were not disappointed this time, the staff were warm and welcoming and seemed to be happy to be working over Christmas, the room was warm, well presented and really clean. we dont have a single complaint about our stay and we will be glad to return there anytime.

Very warm and welcoming from the moment we walked in. Reception and Housekeeping staff were all friendly and helpful. Our room was immacculate and modern. We had a family room and our son was very impressed with having a single bed and not a pull out/bed settee. Beds were VERY comfortable, we all slept really well. We didn't have any meals as we just used it as a stop over while visiting family and friends. We will definately have the breakfast on our next visit as our Daughter has very highly reccommended it. We will definately be using Premier Inn again.

We were staying overnight from the ferry and had a lot of luggage. We found the hotel and got all our bags to reception only to be told we were not staying at Port Solent but in Port Solent East which was across the road. We decided to walk across the road with our bags. Bad decision as it is one of these maze of plastic pubs and hotels not designed with pedestrians in mind. We gave up and put all our bags back in the car and drove about 200 metres and unpacked them all again. Port Solent East is basically a long cell block of identical rooms with the faint smell of stale cigarette smoke. The room was exactly what you would expect with nice shower room, hot drink making facilities, no biscuits, hair drier, free wifi for 30 mins, nice big bed, choice of pillows and a spare bed for a.n. other. It is 5 mins from ferry and ten mins from Gunwharf Quays

I had a choice to book this hotel or marriott which was next door. wish I had booked Marriott as the price differance was about £7. Paid £69 for this rooom. then £5.50 for breakfast This PI was ok but was a bit cross to see that there was no heating in the bathroom (apparently none of the bathrooms have heating) as it was the middle of winter. Reception was kind enough to give us a portable heater for our room which was very cold. Temp was fixed at 23 degrees and when it reached that temp it cut itself off!
Also did not realise that there was no lift and that you had to leave the hotel to eat in the Beefeater.
Service there was very slow and had to ask for our order to be taken a couple of times.
Breakfast was ok. Staff was very busy yet somehow place was not clean. There was no trays so you were always going back and forth for everything...I was exhausted by the time I finished my breakfast.
Our room was the main road on the first floor so was also bothered by the noise even though there was double glazing. I felt that the room was not up to the normal standards of PI as i have stayed in much better ones. This PI is over 20yrs old.
I would not recommend this PI and would rather stay in the Marriott next door. You can also go to Tesco's a 5 min walk away for breakfast if you want.

Room Tip: No Heating in bathrooms no lift have to leave hotel to go and have your breakfast on main road

Me and my Best Friend deceided to come down to Portsmouth for the weekend and do a bit of Christmas shopping. We were lucky enough to get the £19.00 deal for the night.
We checked in approx 3.30pm and check in was quick and easy. The young lady who served us was very kind and helpful and we were given a ground floor twin room which I had booked. The room was great. Just as I would expect from a PI. Standards of cleaniness were high and we were very comfortable.
We deceided to eat at the Beefeater which they had next to the hotel and was ideal for us.
From the moment we walked in, the service, food and the staff were Excellent.
The only complaint we had was from a member of staff called Mike (apparently the Manager). When we entered into the restaurant he deceided to tell his colleague who was just about to take us to our table, that he would have to slow our order down as they had a large group in. So my friend jokingly replied "Are we going to get a free glass of wine for the wait?" and his reply was "You'll get what the staff get...Nothing!"
Now we both work in the Hospitality and Service Industry and at no point do you say that in front of your guests. Apparently Mikes a very nice man, but we didnt get to see or hear a laugh from him with regards to his comment to us. Clearly having a Bad Day!!! All I can say is hooray for Laura. She was our waitress and she was bloody marvelous. Thank you.

Overall we had a great stay and the food was lovely. It's a shame one little thing spoils it!!!

Very clean and tidy - bathroom spotless. Staff very friendly and helpful and as travelling alone due to business, I felt comfortable. Had to walk outside to Beefeater, but only took 3 mins and service/food was very good - Please pre-book table as very busy. Slept well with no disturbance, breakfast was really good with so much choice and well priced - would def recommend.
