“AMAZING RESTAURANT”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Have lunch or dinner here - you will not be disappointed.
One of the best restuarants I have eaten in.
Super menu, delicious food, super service..... all waiters and waitresses provided an excellent service.
It is tucked away down a side street in Southsea. Do book before you go.
The restaurant is very clean and the ambiance is lovely.
Kevin the Chef/Owner took time out to come and say hello - much appreciated.
Everything on the menu looked good and what a menu !!
1st Class - and a lovely experience.

When you are able I have some kids that need living examples of how to be motivated 1st hand please let me know.Well what a dining experience, the welcome sets the scene for what you are about to receive from EVERY member of staff. Courteous, efficient and totally unobtrusive. From being guided to the bar area was the table was being prepared, having accepted the booking, asked if there was an occasion for the booking, to the courtesy call reminding you of your booking in the day. You couldn't ask for more attention to detail.
Canapés of cheese, mackerel and olive (3 individual bitesize pieces) elegantly presented on quality white china - all with unique individual flavours to whet the taste buds.
A velouté of butternut squash was seasoned to perfection, warm to the taste with an intriguing foam - fresh farmhouse breads with an Inhouse salted butter.
A soft boiled quails egg served with a homemade hock terrine gives ham and eggs a completely different twist to the traditional cafe fare in a seaside town.
Wild sea bass fillet was my particular favourite delicately cooked and presented.
As for my Elaine the 30 hour slow cooked belly pork was her favourite of the evening with crackling to die for.
By the time you get to the dessert - a rich signature chocolate dish with. A warm passion fruit sauce to accompany it - the delicate flavours of the previous courses are shadowed by the taste and. The texture of this dish, giving a powerful chocolate surge. I don't normally enjoy chocolate desserts but do know a quality chocolate ganache.
Some unusual cheeses from as far afield ( I think the maître d'hôtel) said came from Preston ( which I thought somewhat unusual) and. The mountains of ( I think I heard in France) with homemade poppy seed crackers was a delicious end to a wide range of foods, exquisitely presented and defining the kitchen brigades skill and attention to detail throughout.

For those that know me I am not very easily pleased nor satisfied but the quality of food, the value for money and the service is definitely worth a mention and one on the list to return as soon as we can.

Sophie, Kevin and staff - Thankyou for making my wife's evening a truly memorable birthday - it's just those little things that make the difference - this definitely sets you apart from all of the other restaurants we know here and outside of Portsmouth.

“Superb”
Reviewed 3 July 2014

This is consistently the best place to eat in Portsmouth & Southsea. Why it hasn't got a Michelin star yet I don't know. Having eaten at several restaurants with Michelin star/s I can honestly say it is better than some of them, including (in my view) JSW in Petersfield although I will happily continue to frequent both. The staff, service and menu are all great and the cheese trolley selection and service is excellent.

“Excellent”

Went here for lunch on a Sunday for our anniversary in February ( sorry for late review )

The food and service are outstanding and as good as any Michelin starred restaurant we have been luck enough to go to . Can only be a matter of time before they have one , if that is what they want .
