“No Hot Food at 1445 On a Sunday!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 April 2014 via mobile

Thought we would take our son to the cafe, have a hot meal and let him outside to play, unfortunately after paying £2 to park we entered the cafe to be met by an indifferent reception, there was nobody else in the cafe but the chef and his to helpers who did not even bother to look up, I had to make conversation which was strained to say the least, still no greeting or guidance, after we spent five minutes choosing what we wanted to eat, the chef strolled over and just said no hot food only snacks and walked off back to the kitchen, we felt so unwelcome we left straight away as we felt that they really did not want us there, as we were spoiling their clearing up. I do not understand a tourist attraction stopping hot food so early on in the day on a Sunday, very puzzling. So wasted £2 parking and no food, the cafe was also looking a bit tired, not what I expected, it's a shame as outside is a nice safe play area, if it served hot food it would be a perfect place to spend an afternoon with the children. I can't comment on the food but if the hospitality is anything to go by, it is a place to avoid.

“Excellent lunch”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 February 2014

Stopped off for coffee before going round the attached Royal marines Museum. Having browsed the menu we decided to have lunch here, splitting our visit to the museum either side of lunch. There is a sign saying be prepared to wait as all food is freshly prepared. I chose a steak and kidney pudding ( a real one with a suet casing) and my wife had salmon on a bed of salad. The wait was not too long and the food was delicious. The museum was good but the Quartermaster's kitchen really was the icing on a good day out.

“Yummy Breakfast”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 March 2013

Have been here a few times for their breakfasts. For two people its £12 for a full english and tea/coffee and toast and they certainly dont scrimp. You can go for a bigger breakfast but not sure how much that is, that would be for someone with a fairly big appetite. Food tastes fresh and sausages are are very tasty, they dont look like shop bought, looks like from a butcher as they are quite big and long! Would defo reccomend, very quaint.
