Been living in this hotel for 4 months now, staff are great, very helpful. Rooms can be a bit tired - grubby lamp shades etc. (tedious I know, but that's what you notice spending 4 months in the hotel!! Bathrooms are okay, a bit dated but no different from other Marriotts I've stayed in. Hotel decor is fantastic, can't complain about anything. Even though I've pointed out the slight negatives, you can't really complain about anything with this hotel! Oh, and the beds are super comfy!!

Room Tip: Rooms with two doubles in low floors can connect to the free public wifi, room 316 has the best show...

The stay at this hotel was on a Bank Holiday and was booked last minute but I can only say good things about our stay. The room was large and very well furnished ,lovely King sized bed. We had an evening meal and the staff in the restaurant were friendly and well organised. The meal was satisfactory and overall our stay was great value and we will definately be staying there again.

This Marriott has become a second home for a many years, business, pleasure, family or naval (submariner) reunions in Hants we know this hotel well & what to expect when we stay there. Ideally located just off the motorway (M27) & a short drive into the city or Southsea. The staff are extremely helpful & accommodating, on arrival at reception after a long journey you feel a warmth, you are not kept waiting in long queues. The executive rooms are really spacious, clean & the beds comfortable...happy days x
Breakfast is plentiful for those who enjoy a full English, thank you not for me.
A short drive away is Port Solent reclaimed land, hosting shops, restaurants etc, every time we visit the place something new has gone up or changed. A trip to Southsea on the common on a sunny day can be rather good, it gives you a chance to stretch your legs & just chill.
Recommended a big yes from us! Both the hotel & the local area.
Ps.... Take a ride up the hill behind the hotel - Paulsgrove and view the Solent - IOW - Harbour.
Best Regards GCD

We often visit this hotel as a weekend retreat or as a springboard to a cruise or I.O.W visit. In all previous visits we have never had any reason to complain, as the beds, food and staff have always been excellent.

Therefore its with regret I write this review, as it almost as if we stayed in a different hotel. The beds were no longer usable as springs had gone, and if this didnt prevent sleep sufficiently, the noise from other rooms succeeded. On both Friday and Saturday nights doors banged continuously from 11.30pm to 2am, as inconsiderate fellows guests run in and out of rooms. As if that wasn't enough, the rancid smell of cigarette smoke made its way into our room as the same selfish guests puffed away in their rooms.

Unless Marriot actually enforces its smoking ban (its ironic that we never smelt smoke on any visits prior to the ban) as well sort out their normally superb beds we will be looking elsewhere

Dear Guest,

Thank you for staying at our hotel and for your valuable feedback. Since Janaury 2014 our hotel is 100% non-smoking and our guest are not allowed to smoke in their rooms anymore and are being charged £150.00 for cleaning/sanitizing the room afterwards.
Could you please let me know what room you have stayed in, so we can check the bed and the mattress ? Our housekeeping team turn the mattresses around 4 per year and normally we do not get any complaints on our mattresses or beds, so we need to fix this quickly.

We hope to see you agaain soon.

The stay at this hotel was rather short notice for me and my husband, as he was on a course, and I was unable to stay at the accommodation he was at. On arrival the hotel receptionist was well presented, friendly, very chatty and smiley, yet was extremely efficient and quick on checking us in, the outside of the hotel could do with a update, yet when entering the decor and atmosphere definitely make up for the exterior. We stayed on the 6th floor in a double room, the bed was very comfy and the facilities in the room (minibar, tv, bathroom etc.) were to our satisfaction. We didn't eat at the restaurant as the menu was slightly limited and because it was seafood based (which me and hubby aren't keen on anyway) but we did take opportunity to eat at the lounge which offers small food snacks all day, we had sandwich which was well presented with a variety of fillings, along with coleslaw and sweet potato/beetroot crisps. We also made use of swimming pool, steam room and sauna, which was very pleasant and clean. If you wanted to travel into Portsmouth, the hotel was close by to the newly opened Park & Ride (£2 a ticket for up to 8 people) which takes you to city centre as well as the main tourist area .Would definitely recommend this hotel, it was well worth the money and would stay here again.

I hope you are a Marriott Rewards member and this means you collect points for every stay, but also mean you can check in on your mobile for your next visit. My wife and I stayed over Easter Weekend, and did so on a special four night rate. For what we paid for bed and breakfast here we would not have been able to stay in one of the local roadside hotel chains.
The hotel is clean, safe, and well situated on the outskirts of Portsmouth. It is easily accessible from the A3 and M27, and was a great base from which to explore all that Portsmouth has to offer. The room was up to the usual Marriott standard, and breakfast was superb. It must have been the busiest weekend of the year so far, and yet they coped admirably with a full hotel. Eating in the evening in the hotel restaurant was not what we expected, not bad, but not to the standard of everything else. Did not matter so much, five minutes away is Port Solent, great selection of restaurants there, plus a cinema. Will be back

Dear Guest,

Thank you for your great feedback and great rating. It is a pity you did not enjoy the food that much. We have been working hard the last few years to improve this and got a AA rosette for the freshness and consistency of our menu.
We hope you can give us another chance soon, since we changed the menu 2 weeks ago and we hope you will find new dishes you like, beside our daily specials.

Stayed for 2 nights this weekend, it was our second stay and both times have been really excellent. The customer service is fantastic, the rooms are clean and spacious. We used the pool with our 2 children and it is also great, although the way the noise from the pool is open to the bar dining room, makes it a bit stressful trying to keep excited children's squeals down, but this is a minor gripe, overall an excellent hotel, we will definitely return.
