Stayed at Marriott and on the whole I would rate this hotel as average, particularly in terms of service. I had booked a fruit basket for when I arrived, but although the hotel acknowledged the order we didn't receive it. Asked hotel to book a taxi- it didn't arrive, so had to make our own arrangements. It was a warm weekend and unfortunately minibar/fridge in room didn't work, reported this to hotel and they apologised that it couldn't be fixed and as they were so busy we couldn't be moved to another room! The
hotel did however let us have our drinks as complimentary, and this was a welcome gesture even if the drinks were warm! The hotel had a couple of wedding parties and the place seemed hectic and packed. Not a leisurely experience. Probably wouldn't stay here again.

Son and I travelled by train and took a very reasonable taxi from Gunwharf Quays; busy junction nearby but noise not intrusive. Husband came by car and got a bit lost but found it eventually. Lovely clean and spacious top floor rooms, great beds and comfortable. Bar service was a little slow on the Friday but staff friendly. Good meal. great breakfasts.
Helpful receptionist spent ages getting fares and availability of crossings to Isle of Wight. Generally what you would expect from a Marriott!

We got a decent promotional rate here and parking was free. However, the deals stopped there. Internet was priced too exorbitantly to use; I was charged eleven pounds for a five-minute LOCAL phone call; restaurant prices are killer, with mediocre food. Pool looks nice, but jacuzzi has no useable jets. The room itself offered good quality sheets, pillows and mattresses so we did have a good sleep, but we couldn't afford to do anything in the hotel. Location is a bit awkward for seeing the main Portsmouth sights, but it worked as a coaching stop. If you stay here, go down the road to Tesco where you'll find a Costa Coffee for a more reasonably priced breakfast. And whatever you do, don't make a phone call from your hotel room!

Dear guest,

thank you for your feedback and we are sorry hear that you did not find our hotel prices good value for money. Our phone prices are mentioned next to the phone and the prices to call a UK mobile number are expensive. Therefore these prices are attached to the phone. The jets in the jaccuzi are not as strong as they have been, due to additional safety repairs we have had to make.
We hope to see you again soon.

yours sincerely,

Stayed here attending a wedding at the portsmouth docs. Gorgeous hotel, 15-minute taxi ride from the harbour so good location. Rooms lovely, restaurant and bar very nice. Breakfast was great. Very good service. Had 3 rooms booked that were all next to each other and all of exactly the same standard which made it very handy as there were no arguments about who's room was nicer. All 3 rooms had queen sized beds which was a nice bonus. Had a swim in the pool the morning of check-out which was also very nice, not quite long enough to do full lengths but nice all the same + jacuzzi.
Only one very slight thing was that we told the Reception that it was my sister's birthday and asked if I was able to purchase some chocolates to go into the room for her. They said they would do a card and chocolates complimentary. I was really grateful, however in the end it was a piece of carrot cake and her name written in sauce which was a nice gesture considering it was free, however I would rather have paid for chocolates and a card as she didn't like carrot cake. (very minor thing!)

We've stayed here many times over the years and despite its 'motel' style architecture we've found the service very good. However, it was really disappointing. Check in were unhelpful, critical and almost rude, the aircon in my son;s room didn;t work, bar staff overcharged us (which they rectified by bringing another round of drinks- which I didnt't want- I would like to have my money back). Reception insisted they have no vouchers for attractions (which we have had before).
Usual high standard of cleanliness and food, but the reception and bar staff were unhelpful.
No feedback cards which was unusual too. We are Marriots members, but the hotel seem to have messed up our reward points too. Won;t stop me going back but would stop me inviting my parents. A shame to spoil it with such petty point scoring from key staff. Internet very expensive in this climate.

We stayed for one night in room 107. It was clean and comfortable. The bed was large and we had lots of comfy pillows! We made use of the small swimming pool, jacuzzi, sauna and steam room. There was a wedding on the day we arrived but it didn't take over the hotel. I can imagine it could get very busy at breakfast but we got seated straight away. Not a vast selection at breakfast but adequate.

Stayed at this hotel over the weekend 5/6 June. Received an email the day before asking if I would like to request any extras...or select floor for room. Selected and received a top floor room. I liked the open plan informality of the restaurant and bar area and also the leisure area just thro some doors on the ground floor. Maybe not a place for an intimate romantic meal. Breakfast was excellent on both days. Never used the bar so cannot comment on price.

Room was very clean - everything worked as it should. Staff at reception very efficient.

Yes it is a littlew ay out of Portsmouth town, but as we did a bit of homework and had been to Portsmouth before we were well aware of this. Set on a business park which may not fit everyone, Tesco store close by as well as some fast food chains and a Beefeater pub next door.

Yes its a business hotel but for a weekend away we had no complaints.

Dear Guest,

thank you for your visit to our hotel and the nice comments. I am pleased you enjoyed your stay at our Marriott. The new lobby concept is called a "Great Room" concept and is implemented world-wide in most of the Marriott Hotels who have the space. It is divided in several informal zones where our customers can meet, drink or eat. Again thank you for staying with us and come again soon.

yours sincerly,
