“One night business stay”
Reviewed 4 July 2014

Myself and a colleague stayed here for just a night whilst in the area with work.
I would agree with most other reviews, the hotel is tired, dated and in need of a lot of refurbishment if it wanted to receive 5⭐️ Reviews.
Similar complaints with bathroom mould etc.
The hotel advertises as a wedding venue so clearly has guests other than workers stopping the one night, guests who may expect something more?
For the price though it's not bad.

It's located out of town and was ideal for us going to Portsmouth and Chichester.

Ate in the hungry horse pub joined on next door and was spot on, as was the breakfast the following morning.

Summary - for getting your head down for a night or two whilst working etc, it's cheap and ideal. For a weekend away with the wife, she wouldn't be happy.

Stayed one night at a very reasonable rate. Staff very friendly and helpful.
Wall paper was curling up away from the coveing. Which had obviously been painted over.
Remote control for tv batteries were flat.
You could hear the person in the room above walking around.
Clean, basic. Food was good.

Room Tip: As wheelchair user we had a ground floor room and used a standard double room fine.

Very very tired hotel. Room good size with reasonable fixtures. However damp patches on ceiling and peeling wallpaper is unacceptable. Neither is chewing gum embedded in carpet. Bed was too soft, but this is subjective. Bathroom ok but PVC shower curtain ? Thought these had gone forever 20 years ago.

Stayed one night for a party hosted at the hotel. The staff were amazing, every one of them helpful, cheerful and polite. The common areas looked OK, but the room was 'tired' and could do with a good makeover, but was basically clean and the bed was comfortable. Couldn't fault the food - good food at the party and excellent breakfast the following morning. On the whole, value for money.

stopped for one night in February.the hotel stank of mildew, due to a leaking flat roof(leaking for months according to the staff).three lots of "clean" cutlery had dried food on them.the resteraunt ceiling had a hole in it.the tiles in front of the bar were cracked with huge holes in them.on the plus side, the reception staff were very apologetic(almost embarrassed) and explained that management were aware of the problems, they just were not willing to spend out on jobs that needed doing.i complained to the group about this and asked for a full refund.they will not give me my money back !I have reported them tho food health and hygiene.trust me,never go to this hotel if you value your health.i am qualified in health and hyheine and this is the worst I have come across.a total dissregard for peoples basic cleanliness needs, and no chance of a refund.all they want is your money.once they have it,they no longer care.

Room Tip: go to another hotel

I have been a guest at the hotel every week besides weekends for the past 12 months. All the receptionists have a very helpful friendly manner which makes the stay feel like I'm home from home. They go out of there way to make it a pleasant week and would like to give them my appreciation for al they have done and continue to do. I would highly recommend this hotel as it's not only good value for money but has a nice atmosphere throughout.
Kind regards
Joe.
