Clarence Pier or 'Biily Mannings' is a funfair that's been on the site for many decades - and it looks it! It has the usual sorts of rides and cheap eating places including a pirate themed place for kids. There is also one of those Harvester type 'cheap eats' places where the food is pretty aweful and the last time (and only time) we were there the service was appalling. The place is fine for kids if they want that sort of thing but I wouldn't go back there for all the tea in China. If your tastes are for unsophisticated entertainment (or 'redneck' as our US cousins might term it) this is the place for you - otherwise steer well clear of it! Also, I would be wary of going there after dark

No matter how any times I've been or even lived near by it's always a nice little option to spend some time! Great to watch the hovercraft arriving and departing and absolutely beautiful views over the sea on a nice day. Fair ground a little over priced but good variety of typical fair ground rides and brilliant for kids, including mini golf (a personal favourite) and a high ropes course. Great arcades and facilities so cant fault it at all apart from the fact it is very affected by the weather and is only open (apart from the arcades which are all year round) from late spring to the end of school summer holidays.

The bad; very slow to clean up food. The door attendants sit there bored out their mind while leaving clutter on the tables. Cost is not the cheapest and is limited to 1 hour. Parking is expensive compared to other soft play centres which is usually free. There is a combination number for the toilet. It's not as dirty as some reviews suggest but it's not as clean as other places I have been.

The good; I like the food. I like the play area with giant Lego which makes it easy to interact with one's kids. Lots of places to sit. A varied set of things for the kids to play on. I just like it and so does my 2 year old daughter. I actually chose to come here for a change instead of somewhere more local to me.

There are a reasonable amount of things to do here, but be warned that the cost of a few rides on the attractions soon add up! A good strategy might be to take advantage of one of the various deals for bulk buying tokens etc.

My kids are pretty fearless, so the high rides and walkways are ideal for them (not my favourite though!) and regularly ask to go here.

The arcade area is fairly dated, but has a good variety of machines - everything from 2p drop ones, to more complicated multi-player action games and everything inbetween.

Plenty of food outlets, but mainly serving chips and/or ice-cream. Candyfloss, rock, and seaside souveniers also available here.

Have just enjoyed a weekend at the Clarence Pier. Everyone was helpful and cheerful and went out of their way to make our stay a pleasant one, particularly the reception staff. Our room was clean and comfortable with plenty of space. The location is good; within easy walking distance of the historic dockyard, shops and restaurants. In the other direction you can take a walk along the promenade and enjoy the surrounding scenery. Would definitely recommend.
