Southsea Castle was built in 1544 and was part of the Henry VIII fortifications. Free to visit and explore, its a good place to come with goid views of the sea. Giftshop onsite.

More of a small fort than traditional castle but still impressive, especially as it is where King Henry VIII watched the sinking of the HMS Mary Rose. Must see and close to the Normady Musuem, Rock garden and the Southsea beach

I came to Portsmouth for the weekend as I know the city has a lot to see and it certainly did, we chose to visit southsea castle and it was OK but there really wasn't a lot to see there, along the sea front is nice though

Free access, in good condition. There's a decent cafe, modest toilets and a fairly decent gift shop.
