Everyone heads to Victory and Warrior which leaves the Naval Museum as an island of calm in the dockyard. Plenty of information which is well laid-out and displayed, although the interactive ship information retrieval archive needs some serious updating as it seems to lack anything from the 1970s onwards.

The whole experience was first class and we were surprised to find the exhibits so interesting. The staff could not have been more helpful and were clearly very proud of their museum.

We did not realise how big this was. The good thing is you can re-visit as many times as you wish for 1 year on your ticket, which we will do. You really need a good 4-5 hours to do it justice. Very well kept and most informative. Lots of hardware on display which my husband particularly enjoyed. You will not be disappointed. Also has a cafe on the premises.

We had vistited the museum previously but missed out on HMS Alliance as it was undergoing a re-fit, hence this time it was specifically to see it. Absolutely fascinating. Really recommended. A very enthusiastic EX Coxon of sub' took us on our tour. He put life and soul into his presentation. Thank goodness I didn't have to serve in one of those things.
