“Much Better!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 July 2014 via mobile

We went here about 4 years ago and everything was awful. We went back last week and had a totally different experience. The service was very prompt and efficient, with each meal and all drinks coming very quickly. The food was all cooked very well and tasted great. The atmosphere was good, music there but not too loud, decòr cosy. The only tiny let down was that it was a pretty expensive meal out for what it was, Mexican isn't 5 star michilline dining....still, we will be back again after that experience.

“Better this time than last”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 July 2014

Tried this restaurant last year for my birthday and the service was very poor. The manager made amends partly by discounting the bill and offering 33% off our next visit. So.... tried again for this year's birthday. Service was much better. Food Ok nothing to complain or rave about. Did not have the wine I ordered but "recommended" the next cheapest one (rather than next dearest). Very few people in so cannot score for atmosphere (it was a Monday early evening). Location is very nice with views across the marina and across to Portchester Castle.

“Mexican???”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 July 2014

We arrived at the restaurant for a much anticipated girls night out at 730pm on a Tuesday night. Having been to many of the bars in Port Solent on a Tuesday evening we were expecting a lively atmosphere, oh how wrong we were! Although all the other bars were full we were greeted with the atmosphere of tumble weed! Undeterred we took our seats and browsed the menus. Lacking in variety and uninspiring mainly consisting of 'what we think Mexican food should be had we never been there' kind of food. The frozen cocktail menu was also sampled. We promptly ordered our drinks and waited, and waited a good ten minutes passed before the drinks arrived at our table! Tasty but the measure of alcohol was certainly far short of a standard measure. Another fair amount of time passed before we were able to place our orders. I ordered the South Western Meatballs at £6.25 , without cheese. What arrived a long long time later were 4 small marbled sized lumps of processed something covered in thick orange gloop. The processed marbles were firmly burnt to the bottom of the dish and the gloop firmly solidified to the sides, a couple of dips with the nachos and I decided to hold out hope for the main course. Chicken and ribs £16.25, described as a 'Chicken breast and a rack of BBQ ribs served with skin-on-fries, corn on the cob, onion rings, our homemade coleslaw and BBQ sauce' What arrived this time was a chewy piece of dried out, tasteless processed chicken colored something with artificial 'burn stripes' on the outside and 3 freshly microwaved, lean to the point of bare ribs in s sickly sauce. No corn on the cob to be located and a bowl of mayo with some chopped up cabbage in. Awful beyond description! Our next round of virgin but not supposed to be virgin cocktails arrived at the table but not the ones we ordered so the waitress, who I must point out was very nice left them as samples and went back to correct the order. All in all I paid £45 for my share of microwaved to the point of nuclear, plastic packed, artificial tasteless gunk and I have to say that is most certainly the last of my cash to cross the threshold of their till draws!

“50% off the bill, Great, cos its 100% off a decent restaurant.”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 July 2014

Wow, its almost like i didn't need to write anything after reading arwoo's review. We were there, on the same night and i agree with him what a disgrace of a restaurant this is. They should change the c at the beginning of the name to an s. nobody at the door to greet us, the waitress was unsure were to sit us, the first drinks took ten minutes to arrive, the main course forty mins plus, the second round of drinks arrived just as we were finishing the main.I had chiquito's famous fajitas (don’t bother if you still want to try this restaurant). One piece of chicken breast, covered in peppers and onion. Three tortillas wrapped up(not even warm). The menu does say if you need more ask, which I did.Why was I not surprised when these took a further ten minutes to arrive. Only this time they were hot, and very crispy. Obviously, over done(or done my someone without a clue). No wonder, the waitress dis-guarded them in my direction, like she had the beginning of the name in her hand. When she did come back, to ask about the quality of the meals, she looked surprised that I considered the tortillas not acceptable to be served.Although she was apologetic. Twice she asked if i wanted to see the manager, to which i replied, no just get the bill, so we can leave. To her credit she did speak, With what I assume was the manager(although he is not managing this restaurant)and she knocked 50% off the bill, still apologising. Then just to top off the evening left the bill and didn't come back so we could pay. To be fair, done of the blame for a crap evening, can be placed at the waitress. She is clearly undertrained. and what a low life manager she has, who didn't even have the balls to come and apologise himself for his disgrace of a restaurant. as arwoo said the place was not busy not even half full, so to chiqutos, and all the staff on that night, you are clearly a mexican't

“Appalling service”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 July 2014

Wish I'd read the reviews before going. Went on Sunday night, it wasn't busy but had to chase our drinks after 20 mins if waiting and we weren't the only ones. When our wine did come it was plonked on the table not even open. Asked for the bill at the same time as desert, and still had to chase. Dreadful service, food wasn't great and there are so many other restaurants here, including another Mexican which we wish we'd gone to instead. Had to leave a small tip as didn't want to wait for the change!
