I have mixed views on Cecil Cottage.

On the positive side, Cecil Cottage is located just yards away from The Point that overlooks the Spinnaker Tower located across the water. The owner, Malcolm is very friendly and always offering to make a cup of tea. He gave us a parking pass to use so that we didn’t have to pay parking charges overnight. The breakfast was good.

The negatives; Despite the clean bed linen, the room itself was not clean. There was a layer of dust behind the head board and side tables and the lamps on the tables. The chandelier had a film of dust on it, had missing crystal plus it hung a tad too low (taking up its chain would help that). The windows had cobwebs in the corners and the blinds had not been dusted. There was hair and dust in the wardrobe. The bathroom had rust stains in the shower and the ceiling light is falling away from the ceiling. The glass cup in the bathroom looked liked it had been wiped with a dirty cloth. There was liquid soap for the sink plus shampoo and conditioner but no soap for the shower. The bathmat was damp and looked like it had not been replaced from the previous guest. The carpet in the room didn’t look like it had been hovered. The breakfast room had bug bodies and dust on the window sill. For a four star rated B & B this level of cleanliness is not acceptable.

The B & B is cash only and you have to pay in advance. It had such an ideal location but for £75.00 you expect a cleaner room.
