Holiday Inn Portsmouth
Ranked #20 of 39 Hotels in Portsmouth

Right on the seafront, this does involve a drive if you are working outside of central Portsmouth. Good facilities with a gym and swimming pool. Lounge bar serves evening meals if you would rather watch Sky Sports than dine in relative quiet.

Clean and efficient as you would expect from Holiday Inn (and quite a bit cheaper than the Holiday Inn Express at Gunwharf Quay).

Standard hotel room facilities so the extra star rating is for the close proximity (10 minute walk) to Gunwharf Quay (THE happening place in Portsmouth with a wide selection of restaurants, etc).

Not bad this hotel. Good check-in service, room big and spacious, choice of pillows which I think all hotels should do! The bathroom towels left a lot to be desired! They had seen better days and mine were dirty and smelly. They either needed throwing in the bin or a good boil wash to get rid of the stains – I say no more! The restaurant was excellent, could not fault it for quality or value for the evening meal although I do advise drinking tap water as the price of the wine was extortionate, on average £7.00 for 250ml!!! Great breakfast, so much choice. I would go back but would certainly check the towels before using the bathroom!

Thank you for your feedback. Great to hear you enjoyed the service in the hotel and more importantly that you would return this is the greatest compliment a hotel can receive. I am truly embarrassed to hear of the poor quality of towels in your room, and I have spoken with the housekeeping team to ensure they do not accept any poor quality linen in from our suppliers, and most definitely not put into the room. Thank you once again and we look forward to seeing you in the hotel again. Kind regards Laura

Stayed here for just one night. The room was clean and comfortable with coffee making facilities, nice TV system and trouser press. No iron or minibar. We didn't use the swimming pool, but it looked good. The breakfast in the morning was very good, an egg chef to provide eggs to order, bacon was lovely and crispy, sausages, hash browns, beans, mushrooms all tasted brilliant. Nice bread to toast, loads of croissants and muffins. Various fruits and hams, DIY milkshakes, a pancake machine and quality coffee machine. We had everything we could have wanted for breakfast. Looking forward to staying here next time.

Enjoyed two days in March at this hotel, the location is ideal if you don't mind walking as it is a 10 Min walk to Southsea or Portsmouth. The rooms are comfortable with a selection of pillows, tea & coffee and tv/radio which has plenty of channels so unless you need to watch a film or live sport there is no need to use the pay for channels.Breakfast is £9.50 but you could not wish for more as they have an excellent selection of food. One complaint is that each morning there was a paper outside our room but on checkout explained that we did not ask for papers and they were removed from our bill without question.
We attended football at Fratton park which we paid £2.30 for a train return from Portsmouth Harbour.

3 Night stay for a course and could not be happier. Room was VERY clean and thoroughly cleaned every day of my stay. Food was fantastic and staff were brilliant, (one even bought me a pint they were that friendly). Swimming pool etc was popular with my collegues but did not use it myself. The bar was VERY expensive as was the WI-FI charges otherwise i would have given this hotel an excellent rating.
Would definately recommend this hotel for a nice comfortable and hassle free stay.

Room Tip: I had a room overlooking the car park and swimming pool, which was not a problem as you could sit an...

Just had a 3 night stay here (deal was only to pay for 2) and everything was just fine - despite some scathing reviews here!
Asked for a sea view room and got one no problem.
The room was a little on the small size but to be expected from a chain. However, it was very clean and in good order.
Staff couldn't do enough for you.-on the 2nd day my room keycard wouldn't work and the young male housekeeper took it to the reception to get it sorted for me.
Breakfast was fine - this hotel is trialling a new breakfast with amongst other things a pancake machine and a coffee machine for self selection of coffee type (latte cappuchino etc) and also allows you to chose when you want your coffee - for me its best after my cooked brekkie! Had to try the pancakes and they were lovely along with the smoothie!
Bed a little too soft for my liking but this is just really personal choice
