We stayed here for one night with our 2 year old daughter. We went to peppa pig world so was close to there. We are glad we chose to stay here was nice and clean, breakfast was lovely. And staff very friendly and helpful. We live in the midlands.... And when we got home I realised we had left our iPad in the draw in the room, oops!!!! I rang up and they found it thankfully, they sent it signed delivery and I received it two days later, great service!!!! Thank you holiday inn :)

The hotel is well run and has mostly very friendly staff. It's a little dated now but facilities are reasonable. There is a good pool and the food was not too bad but could do with a few improvements such as not batch preparing the morning tea!
They do seem to struggle with catering capacity in the evening sometimes
Pretty well what you would expect with a few little niggles like having to pay for wifi!!!

We have just returned from a lovely two days in Portsmouth where we stayed at the Holiday Inn, Pembroke Road (not to be confused with The Holiday Inn Express. The staff were very welcoming when we arrived on Friday morning and the room was very comfortable with all amenities. We stayed in a Executive bedroom where bathrobes were supplied, mini fridge with complimentary water and biscuit bar and soft drinks. The bathroom had complimentary shampoo, conditioner, shower/bath gel, sewing kit, shoe shine cloth, shower cap, soaps, nail file and flannel. A large television was also in the room with ironing board, iron and hair dryer and tea and coffee completed the room service. The breakfast was more than adequate and you could eat as much as you wanted, e.g cold meats and cheese, fruit compote, fruit and yoghurt, toast, full English breakfast of mushrooms, baked beans, sausage, bacon, eggs (both scrambled and fried) black pudding, hash browns, and you could even make your own pancakes if you wished. The bed was very comfortable and we had a lovely view of the Solent in all a very nice stay and we would recommend the hotel to anyone who was visiting the Dock Yard as a good base as the Dock Yard is within walking distance.

Very good location and within walking distance of all the major attractions. Room clean and well equipped.Good breakfast with friendly staff. Pool looked nice although we did not use it. Minor irritation's only, brusque gentleman on reception on arrival, very efficient but please remember you are the first contact that a guest makes and eye contact and a smile go a long way. One teabag in the room on arrival, come on housekeeping! Oh and the empty wheelie bin out loose in the road right by the hotel entrance, even if it is nothing to do with the hotel it needs moving because first impressions etc.
Like I say minor grumbles and I would certainly stay again.

We visited the hotel on a Friday , into Saturday. We arrived early but we were kindly allowed to check in before leaving our case in the boot and walking to the Historical Dockyard. The hotel is situated close to the sea wall, but also to a good footpath up to The Hard, the Gunwharf Quays designer shopping centre and then to the historic dockyard. It is in a super position!
The gentleman on reception could not have been more helpful. We did reserve a table in the dining room in the evening, and we were pleased that we had done!
Dinner was delicious, well served and with promptness. The staff were lovely. The only thing I found a bit unusual was a "Crown of lamb chop" which turned out to be a substantial Barnsley chop. Delicious but misnamed, and there was no mint sauce! The wine was a little pricey at just over £21, in my opinion, but it was pleasant.
The cheese board was enormous. You have to select from several, and after choosing two, my partner was served with a lot of it.
The bedroom was great. I was upgraded from Standard to Executive at the top go the hotel, and we had a fantastic view of the Southsea waterfront, with a lot if shipping movements- totally fascinating! The bathroom was "bijou". A very small bath was useable by us answer are short. A six foot man wanting a bath would be disappointed. Lovely toiletries but no soft soap dispenser. A bit of a disappointment, really.
Bathrobes were provided for our use.
We were going to use the sauna and have a swim but we ran out of time.

Breakfast was v good. You could make your own pancakes, which went down well with visitors. Really good fruit selection, lots of choice of cereals, unlimited tea and coffee and hot selection. Very enjoyable.

Would I stay again? Try stopping me!

Room Tip: Ask for a sea view
