Owner description: Featuring the Mary Rose Museum and world famous ships HMS Victory and HMS Warrior 1860. Plus visit HMS Alliance, the only remaining WW2 era British ocean going submarine, and the M33, the sole remaining British veteran of the bloody Dardanelles Campaign of 1915-1916. Also including the National Museum Royal Navy Portsmouth, Action Stations and the Harbour Tours, as well as the new Women in the Navy Exhibition and the Jutland Exhibition, there's plenty to see and do. Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is a great day out for all the family. Situated within a working Naval Base, Portsmouth Historic Dockyard is the only place in the world to see the Royal Navy past, present and future - a must see for anyone visiting the south of England.

We purchased the ticket covering all exhibits for GBP28 each which is valid for 12mths. To see all exhibits properly will take nearly 2 full days so if you are a visitor to the area who cannot revisit, you need to plan your time or it might be worth buying individual tickets to a limited number of exhibits. If you are able to visit multiple times in the 12mths or can devote in excess of a day it is excellent value. There is an amount of duplication in the information presented in the individual exhibits particularly regarding Nelson and the Victory but this allows each exhibit to be self contained. It is hard to pick a favourite exhibit but the hands on exhibits of the Victory and the Warrior are fantastic. That said the amount of information in the Mary Rose exhibit is hard to beat but make sure you get there first thing as the Mary Rose will get crowded which makes it very hard to take in the large amount of information presented. Don't miss the Apprentice Exhibit if you at all technically minded.

Portsmouth is fortunate to be the home of the Royal Navy and now its historic dockyard. the history of these Islands is encapsulated in visits to famous ships and interesting inter active museums. You do feel part of our history as you walk around and whilst sometimes crowded its always possible to stand and stare and reflect on our past...................................
A great, great day out!

The dockyard and overall historical items were well worth a look, despite the unhelpful staff on the Victory,
