Following our sons wedding we were encouraged to hold our drinks reception in the Georgian Tea Rooms due to Roseann's genuine eagerness to make it very special. What a wonderful afternoon was had! The canapés were plentiful and varied to suit all tastes which included grandma's,teenagers and toddlers. All the the staff were very friendly and attentive always willing to make the occasion as special as it was. If you are looking for that special venue with a difference you need not look beyond the Georgian Tea Rooms in Portsmouth's Historic Dockyard.

After being tasked to organise a Corporate Event, I turned to the Georgian Tearoom in the Dockyard Portsmouth in the hope they may be able to help me after being let down by another venue in Gun Wharf. I needed a 2 course hot meal lunch including drinks and coffees, all served within 1hour and 30mins as we were on a very tight timeline.
Roseann from the tearooms listened to all my requirements, produced a menu with her team to suit, and allowed me to make any changes, which I didnt need to make and followed all my requests, and even made suggestions to improve on my ideas in a lovely and friendly manner.
On the day itself, Roseann and her made sure everything ran smoothly and all the pre agreed requirements were in place.
The food was amazing, the portions were huge, and everyone really enjoyed there meals.

Dear Kellie,
Thank you very much for taking the time to write and being so positive about Roseann's and the teams hard work to get it 'just right' at short notice, I will pass this on. Our pleasure.

We have just upgraded the menu today with lots of local sourced items and an improved offering generally, all very exciting!

Regards,
Andrew

We visited the Georgian Tearoom, part of the Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, on the recommendation of friends who had visited a few months previously.

We visited on a sunny Saturday, at the beginning of March, to find both the dockyard and the tearoom surprisingly uncrowded so we opted for an early lunch.

Our friends had recommended the Hummingbird Cake, going so far as to say they would visit Portsmouth simply for the cake itself, so we had to order a piece! We enjoyed a huge piece of cake for £3.00 and took some home for our friends (to save them the journey) as well as enjoying delicious coffee from a French press. Two filled baguettes - one cheese and pickle - one cranberry and brie - coming in at just under £5.00 each were disappointingly mediocre.

The staff were friendly and helpful; the surroundings clearly of industrial origin (and probably Georgian) without being pretentious. Worth a visit for good, basic food and drink.

Thank you very much for your comments about our tearooms. We do great cakes and coffees and thank you for confirming that.

I also agree that the baguettes could be better, this I am delighted to say is already in hand. Over the last 3 months we have been busy sourcing more local and higher quality suppliers including the bakery side. This will roll out as soon as we have the new menu signage in place which is about a month away to bring the improved menu together.

Regards,
Andrew

We were very impressed with the ambience of this eatery and enjoyed looking at the various artefacts on the walls and other places. We felt everything was in keeping with the dockyard itself. Our toasted sandwiches were delicious and priced at less than £5 coming with crisps and grapes. There were plenty of other options to suit times of the day and individual appetites. The staff were pleasant and helpful and the service was good. They do have a licence for drinks so wine or beer is available. Visit the antique store next door for a trip down memory lane as a bonus.

These are 2 delicious ploughman platters which we had for lunch washed down with a huge pot of tea. "Orion" is a cheese platter ( brie, cheddar and stilton) which comes with grapes, pickle and baguette. "Dreadnought" is a meat platter ( beef, ham, turkey and chorizo), pickle, onions and baguette. Both were very large and together gave us both a good meal. Prices were very reasonable and service good considering the popularity of this eatery. There is a choice of eating in or out. Definitely good value for money. Surroundings quite pleasant in an old dockland warehouse.
