“Pleasant experience”
Reviewed 8 October 2013 via mobile

Recently returned from a very unexpected pleasant evening meal.
Joining some friends I was scepticle as to what to expect from here but was pleasantly surprised.
The food was excellent quality and even more so VALUE for money.
The staff were very pleasant and couldn't have been more attentive.
My friends wanted more chips with her meal and they were there without hesitation.
I would highly recommend it to anyone.
I have been quietly told they have recently changed owners and I have to say they are doing a great job.
I am returning for a live music night this weekend so will update once I have experienced what it's like in the evening.

“ok for a drink, avoid the food!”
Reviewed 8 April 2013

Visited this pub two weeks ago. It's a big place which can cope with large parties but pretty soul-less . It was so cold that we had to keep our coats on throughout the meal. We all chose the Sunday roasts( so in fairness I can't comment on other dishes) but when they arrived, it was like looking at school dinners. Totally unappetising , the roast potatoes were white and hadn't been anywhere near a roasting tin, the balls of stuffing were so hard that a knife couldn't cut them and they caused great amusement, a dish of boring plain vegetables and a couple slices of insipid meat and a splosh of gravy. The 'yorkshire pud' was a joke, so overcooked and hard. My 85 year old Dad peered at his plate and asked me what the black thing was! We left most of it, decided against dessert or coffee and left as soon as we could. The young girls serving were polite and very sweet but apart from that, I can't think of a good thing to say about the whole experience. Definitely the worst meal we have had for years.
