Having checked the village would be open on its web site we visited today only to find it was shut.
There were no notices outside. Hearing somebody working behind the gate I asked what was happening and was told that due to en electrical fault, which he was trying to fix, the village was shut today.
We then met another family which had also travelled some distance to visit the village.
They had been told that as only two people had visted the day before it wasn't worth opening.
I don't know which tale was true, although I have my suspicions.
I have no problem with them shutting due to lack of customers but they could have publicised It on their web site and avoided wasted journeys.
We won't be attempting to visit again.
