A good carvery, opposite the historic docklands - the Docklands are great by the way...but not a great selection of food that was overpriced....Back to the carvery.....A chatty chef - well cooked roasts, choice of three or a slice of each - good selection of fresh vegetables - Great yorkshires - Very reasonable. Typical british carvery!

Our family group of 7 adults and 2 children sought out this convenient pub on a Saturday lunchtime on a busy tourist day. Excellent service and food, large portions for what we expected as a light lunch. well filled Panini's with salad and chips could have fed two people as a light lunch. best 'pub' lasagne I have ever tasted. this will be my choice of lunch venue whenever I return to Portsmouth.

Living fairly locally, I have been past this pub many times, and dismissed it as 'just another Portsmouth Port Pub'. However, I visited with my family for a Sunday roast, and were pleasantly surprised. The food was excellent - good choice of meats, and loads of really well cooked accompaniments - I was particularly partial to the cauliflower cheese with mustard and wine in the sauce!

The staff (and the landlord who I spoke to) were also very pleasant and courteous.

For a Sunday lunch, I would definitely recommend as a change to the Gunwharf Quays selection.
