Rather than drive into Gunwharf Quays we figured we'd try the park and sail - on a water taxi.
Initially I was a bit dubious, but after a short bus trip from the car park to the water bus, we were politely helped on board by the crew. There was a very wide range of people on board from children in prams and pushchairs to 70 year olds and the crew seemed to know instinctively exactly how much to assist everyone without being overly fussy - quite an art in itself!
The info said the trip would take 25 minutes, but it was so much fun it felt a lot shorter.
The slightly irreverant commentary given by the crew as we motored through the harbour was a delight and had most of us grinning and laughing but at the same time passed on real information. And the return trip was just as good with yet more interesting facts and good humour.
This, combined with the fact that it saved us driving through the inner city traffic, and was more cost effective than parking at Gunwharf Quays, made it an all round winner! This would definitely be my transport of choice for future visits; I might even go again, just for commentary and the ride!
