“Pleasant Surprise”

Could not fault the hotel other than to consider £3 for one night's wifi to be be unusual to say the least! Reception, dining room and bar staff all made us feel very welcome. Our room and bathroom were both better than expected. I would only expect one sink in a room and if my wife was shaving when I wanted to apply makeup and adjust my wig it doesn't matter too much where the sink is! On the other hand the seat in the shower is a great idea for a wrinkly like me...I can wash my feet without risking a bye-bye fall.

Perfectly acceptable budget fare but as previous reviewer has stated the bathroom design is just odd.

Huge sink outside the shower/toilet room with no room either side to put anything or a rail for the towel that you inevitably must use.

The sliding door in our room was also really loud which isn't great if you're trying to not wake the kids.

Rooms are large and comfortable, air con is a bonus that you don't get in all budget hotels.

Check in was simple and the hotel itself was impeccably clean. Staff were very friendly and made a real effort to engage with my kids which made it feel more personal than it could have done in a large chain hotel.

Breakfast was a little slow as we arrived after a large party who cleared out the hot section - but that isn't the hotel's fault.

Perfectly placed to access the city's attractions. Likely to use again.

although the staff are excellent at this hotel the rooms are not as good in my view. they are large but at the expense of a stupidly designed shower/ toilet room.
If all rooms are the same they have a sink in the bedroom big enough to bath a baby but no sink in the toilet/ shower room, so if hubby is having a shave and wife has used loo where does she wash her hands, stupid ! stupid ! stupid design, the sink could be much smaller and incorporated in the shower room.
Also our room was on the 1st floor and faced the fast road, come 5am the noise is terrible, plus during the night boy racers used the road as a drag strip. we would try the premier across the road next time.

Room Tip: as stated, use next door premier inn or ask for top floors away from fast road

Clean, modern environment, rooms spacious and comfortable. Staff very helpful and obliging, car parking. Close to Port Solent shopping arcade with numerous restaurants with an outside cafe culture, overlooking the harbour, lovely to relax on a nice sunny day, or evening. Southsea short drive away.

Rooms are good quality, the restaurant is good. You can't expect much more from a similar value hotel. The service is always very good and the staff are very helpful. The buffet breakfast is generally good although sometimes it's hard to find staff to top it up.

Very good as usual so could recommend a stay here. Clean with comfortable bed. Good location for visiting Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, etc without having to drive into the centre of Portsmouth itself as less than 5 minutes drive from Hotel (but not walking distance), there is a new Park & Ride Service (off M275) which is signposted. As it's new, introductory price of £2 to park for the day (£3.50 after end of June) - excellent service, and the bus took us straight to the Dockyard. There are eating places within the vicinity and a Tescos up the road if you need anything else. Five minutes drive from the Hotel is Port Solent - worth a drive as very nice area with lots of restaurants and lovely walk around the Marina. We bought a ticket at the Spinnaker Tower which covered the trip up there and the Historic Dockyard places of interest as well as a Harbour Tour - although it is pricey (approx £60 for 2) it is worth it as there is so much to see and we could not visit everything in two days!! BUT the ticket lasts for a year so we hope to return. Portsmouth itsel,f around the Spinnaker Tower area, has a great shopping area and had a lovely buzz about the place - it was a hot weekend when we were there and felt like the Mediterranean!! Recommend everything as we really enjoyed the whole weekend.

Room Tip: We asked for a room on quieter side overlooking the car park - it was fine
