Owner description: As you arrive at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard, the stunning sleek, black lines of Britain's first iron-hulled, armoured warship, take your breath away. Warrior, launched in 1860, was the pride of Queen Victoria's fleet. Powered by steam and sail, she was the largest, fastest and most powerful ship of her day and had a profound effect on naval architecture. Warrior was, in her time, the ultimate deterrent. Yet within a few years she was obsolete. Restored and back at home in Portsmouth, Warrior now serves as a ship museum, monument, visitor attraction, private venue and more. Open all year round, we invite you to experience her for yourself. Open daily from 10.00am except 24th, 25th & 26th December

“Excellent”

Beautifully kept, and with an interesting history. A contrast to The Mary Rose and the Victory. Once again the guides were good and very helpful. It is now used as a wedding venue.

“Worth a visit”
Reviewed 14 June 2014

Warrior may struggle in comparison with the nearby Victory with its wealth of history but it is still worth a visit in its own right. You are given a leaflet with some of its facts and history contained but perhaps could have done with a little more.

“BRILLIANT”
Reviewed 13 June 2014

The dockyard and overall historical items - especially the Warrior - were well worth a look. Our experience with the staff was positive and unlike the Victory - all were very helpful !

“A fine piece of history”
Reviewed 12 June 2014

and well worth seeing and exploring the vast ship. Imagine being on board with all the smells and noise all those years ago. A very impressive ship that has been restored and kept in fine order.

Interesting comparison against HMS Victory. A true advance in technology. Plenty to see and well worth a visit.
