“Unpretentious Quality”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 28 May 2014

From small beginnings a few years ago when you could often be the only people in the restaurant, the Kitsch has gone from strength to strength and it's therefore no surprise that getting a table isn't always so easy these days.
Without pretending to be something it's not, there are always excellent and innovative choices on the very well balanced and ever changing menu.
Clearly they understand their market and recognise that quality food at VERY sensible prices will bring in those locals that place more importance on good food than telling friends they've visited somewhere expensive.

“Great little find”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 May 2014

Had a lovely set Sunday lunch here today. Great menu choices including goat stew and pulled pork wellington. Yummy puds and some delicious starters (we chose a selection and shared tasters between us!). Staff were very friendly and there was a great ambiance. Service was not not swift (presumably because it was all cooked fresh) so don't go if in a hurry. A lovely, leisurely lunch none-the-less and we'll be recommending to friends and coming again soon hopefully.

“Start of a special Birthday few days”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 23 May 2014

Always a lovely atmosphere, always impressive, meat , fish, flavours, sauces wonderful BUT sorry I go to best restaurants in London and elsewhere , doesn't seem to be the thing any where any longer for indigestible, hard couldn't even cut vegetables ( had to ask for steak knife to approach mine. My friend had one try , then couldn't be bothered. Other than that its a lovely place.

“Can't wait to return”

The food was wonderful. The atmosphere was great and in expected. The only thing was they had run out of Cava and prosecco. I can't wait to return for the seafood platter!

“The Tardis of a resturant”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 6 May 2014

From the outside this place looks more like a very small sailors pub, used when shore leave means only a quick run to the nearest gin house. Inside is a whole different ball game. The bar is minute. The only reason this eatery gets only four stars instead of five, because the restaurant opens up into an much bigger atmospheric ambience with character in shed loads. The staff work hard for their tip and by 8pm the whole place is buzzin, including pleasant live background music. Now for the food. This is more than a hot dog as is the price but worth it. We enjoyed our celebratory meal very much and recommend it as one of the best places to eat in Southsea.
