ETAP is a very basic hotel, but well worth the money. The room is small, but functional, with a shower sort of in the room like a closet would be. So long as you are friends with whomever you're with, it's no problem. It's a great shower and big enough. The sink is on the outside-in the room itself. The toilet is ensuite, and is a separate little room/closet. Interesting setup. This worked great for our needs. I recommend any students or backpackers or even oldies like us to go if you want the basics and need to save a few bucks. We're not proud. And we just came from a stay at the Marriott on Champs/Paris.
It is very near a shopping area and Old Town (we walked). I highly recommend a great bar/restaurant nearby called The Giddy Bridge on London Rd very walkable. It is on London Rd on the right side.
The hotel is near the dock, which is why we booked it. There is a flat taxi fee to go from the airport to the hotel. It is still pretty new looking and has a modern style to it. The staff is basic except for one outstanding employee, Paddy, who was so kind when we needed help. I even wrote a letter to the manager, congratulating him on hiring Paddy.
The breakfast is very basic, but again, well worth the extra few dollars (separate fee). There is cereal, (some days there is fruit), coffee or tea, toast, usually croissants and juice. The place is utilitarian, the bed was comfy, the pillows not so. The best thing was the shower pressure! I love a strong showerhead. It was quiet and in a fine area so you do feel very safe. There are restaurants nearby, a Friday's next door and a burger place (McD?). You can even eat at the Ibis next door, but I do not recommend that for food, but there is a bar if you wish. This Etap is very much like other Etaps, so I hear. They let you put your valuables in a personal safe near the front desk and you keep the key. There is satellite TV and a snack bar to purchase items. All around good deal. We would return if the circumstances present themselves. I will attach photos soon.
