“A great night out”

We went with a couple and we both have a son and daughter, so there were 8 of us all together. The food was very good, and the portions were generous. The service was friendly.

“great atsmophere very personal”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 13 March 2014

went early on a week day night! we were basically the only couple in there, this as fine though. It seemed family run and personal and every other couple through the door seemed on first name basis with the owners.

We had the calzone and although it definatlery hit the spot it definatley wasn't the best one I have ever had.

In summary I would highly reccomend this restaurant it was was cozy and had something that is misin in the bigger italian restaurants in soton.

“Just don't call it Italian.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 8 March 2014

The place is small and the atmosphere is warm. The staff is kind and everything at first glance is at it should be...

The problem comes when the food arrives on the table. If the price of the food is low, the quality is even lower. The use of poor-quality ingredients, the abuse of garlic powder and the complete lack of respect for the Italian recipes make the food absolutely NOT Italian.

The pizzas (and calzoni), cooked in the electric hoven do not satisfy any of the criteria to make a "good" pizza: too tall, too small, too many ingredients on the same pizza, too much garlic.
Some of the pastas were acceptable, the lasagne look like a weird cottage pie.
There might be hope with the desserts and the "amari".

In conclusion, the place is nice, but apart from some dishes which are discrete, mainly the food is not Italian. And there is so much garlic that it is not advisable at all for the first date...
