This place is a GEM. We stayed four days and relaxed although we had a busy schedule in Southampton.
My wife particularly admired the decor whilst I could not see how anything could be improved.
We have ourselves 3 much admired properties which are rented out and we thought we were pretty good but Mark and Andy do it all so much better. If you are reading this review then go ahead and book. I am certain that you will like it and it is also very good value for money.
Other reviews tell you about room size, layout and quality of fittings. so book with confidence

Room Tip: We were in Room 7 and it was very good. I can not speak for other rooms but it would seem unlikely t...

We stayed here for the first time last month and can’t fault it. Felt at home the moment we entered and were greeted by Mark, so warm and friendly. We were shown to our room which was beautiful, spacious and spotlessly clean as was the en suite with its lovely toiletries. The room had lots of storage, TV and tea and coffee making facilities. The whole house is very tastefully decorated and is more like a small hotel. The breakfasts, which were deliciously cooked by Mark, offered excellent choice that we worked our way through the menu having something different each morning. There are plenty refills of toast, tea and coffee.

The B & B is in a quiet location but only a short stroll to the station, theatre and the centre of town. We had no problem parking as there is ample space either in front of the guest house or across the road at their other property No 10. It was lovely to return to our room each evening to find it serviced to a high standard and a welcoming comfy bed! We enjoyed our stay so much that before leaving we booked for two other visits we are making to the area again this year.

To summarise it is a beautiful, spotlessly clean house, with excellent breakfasts and in a great location. Mark and Andy are two lovely, warm, helpful guys who work hard maintaining a high standard to ensure your stay is a memorable one. Looking forward to our stay with you again.

The Mayfair is truly a superb place to stay and wonderful value for money. The decor is tasteful and very elegant, the rooms spotless, breakfast top quality and location couldn't be better. Mark was very welcoming and knowledgeable and based on our experience am considering another visit to Southampton just so that we can repeat the experience.

Stayed here for 1 night only on 10th May as we were down to see some friends.

Initial impressions via email were great - swift responses to all the questions I'd asked, room got booked and away we went.

Got there and we were immediately ushered in out of the rain and made a cup of tea! Couldn't have felt more welcoming. Beautifully decorated inside and clearly looked after on the outside. We sat in the lounge with a cuppa chatting away with Mark, the owner - what a really nice guy! - and then we were showed to our room.

For the price we paid and for a guest house, we really didn't expect what we got. I think another reviewer somewhere mentioned that it's more like a boutique hotel and they're right. The room itself was impeccable. Spotlessly clean, lovely furniture and enough tea bags so that you could have more than 1 cup each!! We had a double en suite room and the bathroom was the same as the bedroom - absolutely spotless! Bed was comfy, the tv was the biggest I've seen in a room, it was tastefully decorated but in a way that sort of makes you go 'wow' when you walk in - even the biscuits were posh!! Being a miserable northerner, I'm quite good at finding faults with things without really trying, but there's no flaw to this place at all, everything is done to the highest of standards and kept perfectly.

Breakfast was first class - full english with a pot of tea, proper coffee and everything was cooked perfectly. Toast refills too! Certainly the best breakfast I've had away from home in a very long time…

The downstairs of the guest house was also lovely - the dining room was very nice and there is a lounge for guests to use - although we weren't there long enough to make much use of it!

Mark and Andy are really great hosts, making you feel welcome the minute you arrive. They've taken the standards of guest house accommodation to whole new levels with this place. The fact that they remember everybody's name shows you the level of customer service you're getting. it's a great little find and I'm glad we found it! I really don't know why people go to the travelodges and premier inns when places like this exist.

We didn't venture into town as we didn't have time, but as far as I can gather it's not far at all. It's very close to the train station and doesn't appear to be that far into the centre.

Although we only stayed one night we've already agreed we're going to be returning (I think it was just after breakfast we made the decision…!) and hopefully not too far into the future.

Mark and Andy - thanks so much for making us feel so welcome, we'll certainly be seeing you again.

Room Tip: We had room 7 - beautiful double en suite
