Lovely hotel! Stayed in Veritas room which had the most comfortable bed, didn't want to get up. Shower was big and powerful. Room was very clean, lovely box of tea and free water.

I do feel you should not have to pay for parking, especially as the hotel is not cheap to stay in.

Great family run hotel. Very attentive staff and beautifully furnished bedrooms. Parking handy but make sure you book in advance. We ate in the restaurant both nights as the food was so good. Highly recommended.

We pre booked a room for Saturday night, 22nd September. When we arrived in the afternoon we had to wait for approximately 10 minutes to check in as the only person on reception was already attending to someone else.

The room was small although clean. However there were: three light bulbs not working, a wall mounted light fixture that swivelled on the wall when the on/ off cord was pulled, part of an internal wall was made of unfinished plasterboard with visible screwheads, there was some mould along the bottom of the shower and there were cracks at the junction of the shower wall and ceiling. For this we paid £200 for one night (+£7.50 for parking), breakfast extra, which we consider excessive given the (lack of) quality of the accommodation.

Air conditioning was noisy.

For the evening meal the food was good and enjoyable, the bill came to approximately £80 for two people, excluding alcohol. We were given a complimentary bottle of wine.

Room Tip: Rooms to the front are exposed to traffic noise.

We booked a special package for one night which included dinner. We also booked car parking for £7.50 for the night in the hotel's car park. On arrival, we discovered that our car parking space had been taken, though admittedly it was not the hotel's fault that some non resident had parked in our space and disappeared. We were able to find a nearby space in the side street to park but had to get up in the morning before 8pm to either move the car or fill the parking meter. The staff were very apologetic and after an excellent meal in the hotel, we dismissed the whole episode. Our room was very clean but it was quite small and lacked character. The room was stifling hot but we couldn't see any sign of air conditioning. As a result we had to open the window and the blind to let cool fresh air in. The hotel is opposite the Red Funnel terminal and throughout the night we were kept awake by ferry activities. It is also next to a very busy road and the sound of heavy lorries, cars and motor bikes added to the ferry noises. To top it all, the ferry company had strong flood lights which shone right into our room. I didn't sleep all night but at least was still awake to rescue the car before 8am. When I returned, I read the room manual and discovered that there was a remote controller to air conditioning in the room but by then I had already suffered a sleepless night. Breakfast was excellent but when I asked for the bill I was not given a breakdown of until I asked. I discovered that I had still been charged for parking and also discovered that the meal we had been served the night before was not part of the pre paid package although they had not told us that or given us their special rate menu.. Furthermore, we were charged for the pre paid evening meal which we were not given and charged again for the meal that we did have. Once again the staff were very apologetic and refunded the car parking fee and made a gesture by refunding some of the cost of our pre paid package though our stay in the end was still much more than expected. I don't mind too much because the meal was excellent but poor administration did let the hotel down.

We stayed here for the weekend to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We dined here 10 years ago and loved it. We stayed in the superior room Venus which had dual aspect windows. The room was very nice, bed comfortable followed be a good nights sleep. We dined in the restaurant and the service was excellent likewise the food. My only criticism was we had to wait a while for our breakfast and it wasn't particularly busy. When it arrived it was very good.

Room Tip: Corner suites are larger!

On arrival on a Sunday afternoon we parked up in a side street and attempted to enter the building. We couldn't!
We asked in the Italian restaurant next door but noone spoke English.
No doors would open despite walking round the hotel 3 times! Eventually someone came to a side entrance and let us in.
Rooms were lovely & clean and fresh looking, impressed with the large bathroom and coffee facilities. Pillows could do with being a little firmer though, but thats just my preference. Our room was directly opposite the ferry car park, was nice to watch all the cars lining up to go on the ferry. Would stay here again. Don't bother with paying for the car parking as there is a side street if you are staying over the weekend parking is free after 6pm saturdays

Our room was a very good size with excellent amenities.
Breakfast was included with the room.
Bar and restaurant downstairs which opened for lunch and dinner.
Short stroll to town mall, which has a newly opened shopping centre..
Great place to stay prior to boarding your ship for your cruise.
Standard taxi fare is 3.50 pounds .to any ship.
Highly recommended for the mature couples.

Room Tip: Ask for a room off the road.
