“Great evening”
Reviewed 8 September 2013

Great room, good food, nice staff, clean and polished. It had a really good atmosphere with all of the staff seeming to be happy to work there - definitely like a family business.

I felt well looked after and would be very happy staying there again.

(Note that breakfast & parking is charged extra)

Room Tip: They only have 5 or 6 parking spaces on the road immediately behind the hotel (they charge a fee...

My husband and I had the pleasure of staying at Ennios for 3 nights mid August before taking a cruise. It is conveniently located opposite where the ships dock. We did still need to take a taxi as it was still difficult to walk with luggage. We also enjoyed an excellent meal at the restaurant. Rooms were very clean and comfortable L'octane products were an added bonus. King bed and pillows were very comfortable Staff were very friendly and helpful and we would have no hesitation recommending this hotel and would certainly stay again.
Only negative was no lift.

This is a hotel that we would keep coming back to -- the rooms are fantastic with A/C units in them and very efficient double glazing and the food in their restaurant is simply first class.
Very good breakfast with quality ingredients -- quality.
The staff were really friendly and made us VERY welcome

Best advice I can give is to book one of their six car parking spaces and a room at the back

Room Tip: Book a car parking space

We booked one night at Ennio's about 5 months prior to our cruise. Multiple emails assured us one of the quiet rooms at the back of the building. Upon check-in, sure enough we were shown to a very hot room right on the noisy Main Street. I politely declined the room and mentioned that I had been promised a quiet (and hopefully cooler) room by the owner.

We ended up in what I have to assume was the best room available. It was large and comfortable, but the best feature was the large double windows that faced a portion of the old town wall. As we were cruising the next day, it was very exciting to be able to open the windows and lean out and see whichever cruise ship was in port that day.

What I didn't care for was having to walk the length of the dining room to get to or from our assigned room. I felt like I was disrupting the diners. Also, as this boutique hotel has a highly rated restaurant downstairs, why not offer breakfast as an included benefit, either eaten in the dining room or delivered to the rooms? We skipped the breakfast offerings and my husband went out in search of a couple of pastries. It's somewhat embarrassing to have to walk the length of the restaurant twice, first leaving and then coming back through with a to-go bag. And of course back through again dragging all of our luggage to check out.

Our 4th stay here and this time in one of their new rooms - fabulous and such a comfy bed too! Dinner in their fantastic restaurant was as excellent as ever and every member of staff we came across was so obliging, well mannered and attentive. The only disappointment - that charmer Harry wasn't there! He was apparently at their sister establishment The Cromwell Arms that evening, but we were very well looked after by all. Well done and thank you to all for making our visit so enjoyable, looking forward to returning hopefully for new year's eve.

Room Tip: rooms at the back are quieter

Wife and I stayed for one night; excellent room size, comfortable and above all super position.

If you stay here make sure you eat in the Restaurant, excellent quality, fantastic menu and above all lovely experience. Staff could not be more helpful.

All in all great place to stay and dine...

We had two rooms for one night. One couple had a room beginning with E (sorry cannot remember name) which was quite large with a large shower room. and we had Somnus. Our room was small /medium size but very well designed and with a fabulous small shower room. In the shower rooms there were complimentary L'Occitane products which impressed the girls. In the room there was a well stocked minibar. The room beginning with E looked over the harbour and you could see the sea whereas our room, Somnus, looked over the rear - actually over some ruins which my wife liked.
Staff were very friendly and efficient.
We booked the restaurant, which was very busy - especially considering it was a Tuesday - I thought the food was good whereas the other three thought it was excellent. The meal cost a lot but you pay for what you get and it was worth it. Harry, the owner, works in the restaurant.
Overall, if I needed to stay in Southampton again, I would definitely be disappointed if I could not stay here.

Room Tip: go for the superior room starting an E facing the sea, but o not be disappointed if you get another...
