I booked this as a special wedding anniversary surprise for my husband. Promotional deal of Dinner Bed and Breakfast for a one night stay. Very impressed, lovely location overlooking the docks, very clean, bedroom was double room but much bigger. Staff are polite and friendly. Took advantage of the pool and spa pool both very clean. Food was delicious and plentiful both dinner and breakfast good selection of menu.
Would visit again.

Stayed at this hotel for our first cruise. we chose a park and stay package and a superior room. I parked the car on site but had to leave the keys. The room overlooked the harbour and had everything we needed. We had dinner across the road at the Holiday Inn as it was much cheaper then the Grand Harbour and after a 6 hour drive we just wanted a siimple dinner then bed! The breakfast was very good indeed and also the transfer to and from the ship. This hotel is also perfectly placed if you want to explore Historic Southampton which we had asnippet of the next morning before our cruise transfer. Would definately stay again.

We booked this as a last minute trip, picked this hotel as thought it was 5* but soon realised it had lost that and could see why. Pool surroundings were very dated, lots of rusting, flaky paint, missing lights etc. Needed a lot of updating. Bedrooms ok but again, bathroom needed updating as shower not working well, dirty grouting and in need of some TLC. We chose to have dinner which was extremely slow service- 2 hours! And we were then charged a service fee which was really not earned! Food was ok but really let down by the service. Would not stay here again unless it had a serious revamp!

Stayed for just one night before boarding our ship for a cruise. We were travelling as a family of 5 adults, so needed 3 rooms, which were all very comfortable (booked deluxe double rooms with sea view) with all the facilities you may require, eg. tea and coffee making facilities with biscuits, an iron and ironing board. Staff were very polite, professional and accommodating throughout our stay. We were made to feel very welcome and nothing was too much trouble. We wanted to see something of Southampton so chose to eat out in the evening, but the breakfast on our morning of departure was excellent - one of the best hotel breakfasts I've ever had, with everything to choose from. The only negative is the car parking, as we found it very difficult to get a space in the hotel car park when we arrived (approx. 3pm) and spaces were quite narrow. However, we will return next time we cruise from Southampton and are sure that we will have another positive experience. Thank you all for your hospitality.

We have stayed at this hotel on 2 previous occasions and found the hotel to be excellent, hence we arranged to stay there again when visiting the New Forest recently.
When we arrived to check in to the hotel we were informed that breakfast was not included, despite having already paid for bed and breakfast . This was resolved on showing them my booking confirmation , however each time we went for breakfast we had a repeat performance of being told that we would have to pay extra for this. On final check out we were again informed that we would have to pay £15 each for breakfast each day. Again I had to produce my 'evidence' that we had indeed already paid for this.
The room was large and spacious and they had provided a bed Setee made up as requested for our 4 year old daughter. The bathroom was also large however the separate shower cubicle looked grubby as the tiles needed regrouting and the toilet roll holder was hanging off. Both minor points but not what one would expect from a 4 star hotel. There was some peeling wallpaper in the bedroom which made the room look a little scruffy also. The toiletries in the bathroom were 'ritual' products which I adore, however they were not replenished daily. The tea and coffee facilities were also not replenished every day. .
We had room service on 3 occasions and each time we waited more than an hour for this to arrive , when we had been told on ordering that they would be with us in half an hour.
A real annoyance was there appeared to be a shortage of staff. Each time we rang housekeeping we did not receive an answer and when we therefore rang reception we frequently got no reply there and had to keep redialing. We had to also redial room service as they also frequently did not
We were therefore a little disappointed with our recent stay and are unsure whether we will be staying there again. We discovered on our last day that this hotel is no longer within the 'De Vere' chain so we wonder whether this is the reason for the deterioration in facilities and service.
On a more positive note, the staff that were there were very helpful and friendly.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back of the hotel are quieter

Myself and my friend booked a 2 day spa break through SPastayselect.com, we had breakfast both days and it also included 3 course dinner on one evening.
Beauty Therapists were fantastic and very friendly, our deal include 2 treatments and we paid for another and all were excellent.
Only reason for not giving 5 star rating was pool area could do with a little bit of updating.
All staff were friendly and attentive. Also great location for shopping or nightlife in Southampton its self.

Friendly welcome from person on reception. Room in need of an update, even though a deluxe room. Although a large room - family room with the two sofa beds down it was difficult to get around. Sofa beds incredibly uncomfortable for older children. Room very hot and air conditioning not working. Tried opening windows but a lot of noise coming from outside and was woken several times during the night - particularly when emptying skips right outside at 5.30am. Not what you expect from a higher star hotel - no pens, only 2 biscuits (even though booked for 4), few bathroom supplies. Breakfast good. Did not opt to eat dinner at hotel as it was quite pricey but went to Holiday Inn just over the road. Next time would probably opt to say at Holiday Inn. Asked for room in front of hotel but was told no family rooms overlooking Harbour.

Room Tip: Request a room at the front overlooking the harbour
