We went for the Dinner Bed & Breakfast package and enjoyed a very good dinner in a surprisingly quiet Restaurant. The breakfast was one of the best we've enjoyed. A clean, modern hotel gave us a good night's rest and late check-out so we could go straight to our cruise ship in a five minute drive.

we stayed in this hotel the night before a cruise.we had flown into heathrow that morning and got a national express coach down to southampton coach station.this was the first time we had stayed over night in southampton and had only ever just been dropped of at the port.therefore we didn't know southampton or how to get to the hotel from the coach station, we had planned on getting a taxi. when we arrived in southampton i couldn't believe how close the coach station was to the hotel, we walked across a car park and into the hotel.our first impressions of the hotel was of a bright, modern, friendly place, check in was fast.our room was on the fifth floor and what a view!the room was a good size and clean, the kids bed was a sofa bed that was already made up.found it strange at first that the toilet was seperate from the sink and bath have never come across that in any hotel i've ever stayed in but it proved to be a good thing when the next morning we all tried to wash, dress and use the toilet there wasn't the sound of someone dancing waiting to use the loo while daddy shaved.the hotel has two game consoles a wii and an xbox in the lobby free of charge to use which proved popular with our 10 year old and kept him occupied all evening from dinner to bedtime.we had booked well in advance and got a really really good price for breakfast and evening meal(just had to pay for the kids evening meal from the kids menu which was very reasonable)kids breakfast was free.there is a gym and pool but we didn't use them.one thing i can say is you won't go cold the rooms are very warm a little too warm.when we awoke the next morning very early due to everyone being sooo excited we looked out our window and there was the cruise ship docked in port. i do hope we didn't waken anyone that morning with our cries of excitement.the breakfast was lovely and when it was time to leave we asked reception to organise a taxi for us to the port which was arranged quickly and the taxi was there within ten minutes.being so close to the port seeing the ship docked just added to the excitement of going on holiday this was our kids first cruise.we will be cruising again in june 2012 and will be booking the novotel again as soon as the bookings open.thank you novotel for a fantastic start to our holiday. see you soon!

This was our second stay at the hotel.
Communication with the staff is slightly difficult but the service they provide is excellent.
Rooms are a good size, modern and well equiped, the only disadvantage of the rooms is the temperature; windows only open a little and no air con is in the room, however, on this stay we were lucky as one of the security ties had been taken of the window meaning it could be opened wide, this didnt make too much difference to the overall temperature of the room. The sofabed is very comfy and the rooms are more than suitable to sleep 4 people.
The leisure facilities are brilliant with a medium sized pool, gym and sauna aswell as a Xbox and Wii in the reception.
Room service & food is slightly expensive but the food is very nice and to a extreamly high quality.
The breakfasts are excellent with a wide range of choice available and the hotel is a short distance from local attractions/restraunts/bars.

Having previously been to the four star Cardiff Novotel the Southampton hotel clearly looks a little run down in places but they do seem to be working to get it in good order (there were works when we were there).

Staff were fantastic and very helpful and check in and check out were flawless and simple.

Breakfast buffet was wonderful, plenty of selection and a great service here too.

There was a function on while we were there but this didn't affect our stay at all as it was very well managed.

Only complaint are that the broadband speed was awful (and got me locked out of my Internet banking as a result) and the bath was quite small... those very minor things aside, great hotel.

We stayed the night before departing on a cruise from Southampton. Arriving late the evening before departure ,we had a meal and a good night's sleep. On our return three + weks later we asked if we could leave our luggage there, have a lunch meal, before getting a taxi to Southamptom airport to catch our flight home to Jersey. They were so helpful and I would have no hestitation in stopping at the same Hotel should we be in Southampton again. Thank you Novotel for being so helpful.
