“Perfect hotel for cruisers!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 5 June 2014

This Novotel was in prime position for those going on cruising holidays. The dock gate is literally a few minutes walk away, and a good selection of shops are located a short walk away too.
The receptionist was welcoming and friendly, she warned us of a wedding in the hotel and said there may be noise. When we expressed concern she quickly without fuss moved us to a great quiet room on the 5th floor. She gave us a map of Southampton with clear instructions how to get to the shopping areas. Our luggage was also securely stored until our room was ready ( we arrived too early for check in)
The hotel was spotless throughout, and breakfast next day was exceptionally good. A hot buffet of traditional breakfast foods along with the usual cereals juices and toast. The evening menu for the restaurant also looked to offer a good range of dishes too. Again, excellent attentive staff in the breakfast room.
We usually stay at Suite Novotel, but were very impressed with this Novotel even though we missed the movie channel available in Suite Novotel. We are returning in September and look forward to yet another enjoyable stay.

Room Tip: Higher floors are generally quieter if there is a celebration downstairs.

Stayed here the night before a cruse from Southampton. On arrival staff were very helpful and asked if it was ok for us to stay in disabled room as very busy. Room was lovely and no different to any other room. Hotel facilities were great and location is good (10 min walk to train station, entertainment complex and shops - all in different directions).

Checked out the next day and only slight quibble was that when I asked for a taxi to the port they said the taxis were busy and would be an hour wait !! They are obviously tied to a certain company because I just googled one and got a taxi in 10 mins. Was a little naughty that they were fobbing off alot of people and making them wait. They should use more than 1 company.

Overall though lovely hotel.

This novotel was nothing special. The corridors felt like you were in a prison and the whole place seemed a bit in need of a refresh. It is right next to an IBIS which I would stay at in future instead.

Stayed overnight at this hotel prior to taking a cruise. It is in a great location for the cruise terminals and even with the current traffic disruptions in Southampton around the cruise terminal approach roads, getting to our destination was quick and easy with no problems. Although this hotel is situated on a busy main road our room which was situated on the 5th floor was very quiet. The room was functional, clean and more than adequate for a short stay. Staff were very helpful and any room service matters attended to promptly. Breakfast was good and there was a good choice of food on offer. Parking at this hotel is £6 per 24 hours in their large secure car park, which is shared with the Ibis hotel adjacent. Ample spaces available. We paid £79 for the room per night which included a full English breakfast.

Enjoyable stay and would gladly return ( subject to price )

Room Tip: Rooms on the 5th floor facing the car park good, no traffic noise

I haven't stayed in a Novotel for at least 10 years as I had the opinion they were a budget type hotel.

My opinion has now changed. The hotel has a modern, airy feel to it with great facilities.

The staff were very friendly and helpful. My room was very clean with all the usual facilities. I'm always a stickler for a very clean bathroom and this was fine.

The hotel is close to a main road but I didn't hear any traffic noise.

I'd use this hotel again.

Stayed for a couple of nights curtesy of Tesco Rewards. The staff were very friendly and my wife and daughter enjoyed a couple of dips in the pool. The welcome gift for my daughter was a nice touch. The room was very comfortable, if a little warm.. The breakfasts were well cooked and I would definitely recommend this hotel.

My family of 2 adults and 2 children stayed for one night in a family room, double and a sofa bed. We asked for a quiet room and were put on the 5th floor which is fine though we were above the function room where a wedding party danced on into the night so if you don't want to hear the thud of the music it may be worth checking if there are any events on and if so where your room is in relation to the possible noise. Room was adequate, but a bit tired and colourless with pebble-dash painted walls. Bathroom ok and shower good with pokey separate toilet room. Children used the small pool and enjoyed it, this area looked new and fresh, though the changing room shower was not functioning properly at the time. Biggest disappointment was the breakfast cost at an extra £15 per adult, so we took cereal boxes/bowls, and put milk in the fridge in the room (added bonus)! Tesco is opposite and there is also a McDonalds next door which could provide a cheaper breakfast. Parking is an additional £6 for 24 hours, so in summary an overpriced stay but close to port and near to centre with amenities near by.

Many thanks for your review, I was glad to read that your children enjoyed our Pool and I am sorry that the Shower was not functioning during your stay. It is a shame that you did not try our breakfast, as you can see from other reviews it is a very good Breakfast and includes Hot offerings as well as Cereals, Danishes and even pancakes. Again thank you for your review and we do hope to see you again.
