We loved our stay at the friendly Hunter's Lodge. Roddy and Jihea, the owners, were great hosts. They even opened up the living room "bar" for us (super cute) so that we could have a convivial drink in the evening. Very clean room, and the breakfast was great! Jihea makes you breakfast to order, and also there is the usual array of cereals & fruit & yogurt & juice as well. And lucky us, we arrived on the weekend of Guy Fawkes day -- the picture window in our room was a great place to watch all the fireworks! Bonus!

Very dissapointed, hotel very dated. Room small and basic, waited 5 mins for water to get hot in shower and basin. Breakfast very basic, 1 egg, 2 thin bacon rashers, 1 tomato, 2 mushrooms and 1 chipolata !!! And you must order before 08:30 M-F, not my idea of a break. Don't think I will go back.

My husband and I stayed here for a few nights before taking our cruise and glad we chose Hunters Lodge! Jihea and Roddy were very helpful and pleasant, giving us a map and suggestions and also booking a taxi for us to reach the cruise terminal! It was a quiet area and easily accessible to city center for shopping, restaurants and museums! Their B&B was immaculate and very quaint! Felt safe and rested after a very long flight! Would definitely plan to stay here again! Thank you!!

Thus place is nice to stay in, the room was very clean a comfortable.
I felt that it was lacking in homeliness and warmth. The hosts were friendly but only as I was checking out, not a great welcome
However I would stay again, as I now know what to expect.

We visit Southampton regularly to keep up with family and friends there, we needed a reliable guest house convenient for the Central Station.
There are plenty of places in the Hill Lane area, but precisely because of their location they tend to cater for business people so they are efficient, functional, characterless, rather than a welcoming home from home.
We tried Hunters Lodge this year, it was just what we needed, it will be our regular booking in future! It's just a lovely place - comfortable, welcoming, relaxed. The owners are nicely laid-back and excellent company.
Our room was large, quiet, comfortable, spotlessly clean, well furnished and equipped. A big plus - there was masses of storage space! A big wardrobe, two big chests of drawers as well as bedside cupboards.
Generous sized bottles of shampoo and shower gel, lots of lovely cookies with the tea and coffee making, a good television.
Breakfast is individually cooked for each table, plenty for our appetites, and delicious. There was a good selection of cereals, fruit, juices, yogurts etc. NB It is included in the room price so long as you book direct with the owners.
The possible disadvantages at Hunters Lodge are as some people have commented on - it takes a couple of minutes for the shower to run hot, and the individually cooked breakfasts obviously don't appear instantaneously. Something to be aware of if you are likely to be in a rush to get out, no problem otherwise.
We are looking forward to going back.

Room Tip: Book direct with the owners for breakfast to be included in the room price
