Fab little place. Clean, comfy and lovely helpful staff. Would definitely stay here again if in the area and would recommend. The one and only downside for us was the food in Lizzie's which seemed to be mainly heated up straight from the freezer rather than homemade, and every dish (even the curry) is served with a huge dollop of coleslaw! Very close to Southampton Common and around a 15/20 minute walk into the town. Overall very good value and an enjoyable stay.

Excellent value for money
I Requested a quiet room and got this, we had a huge room with a double and a single bed . Quieter rooms at the back are at the back of hotel.
Very helpful staff, helped with bus routes, taxis etc
Lovely stay
Thankyou

Only time for one night B&B at The Elizabeth House Hotel for a quick visit to look around Southampton. The hotel is set back from the main road, has ample free parking and bus stops to the city centre just outside. Made very welcome on arrival but disappointed that there was not a lift nor an offer made to take our bags up the rather steep and narrow staircase to our room. Our room was a good size, lots of storage space, big TV, very comfy bed, full-size bath and a modern shower. This back room was quiet but was very warm and we resorted to having the room and bathroom windows open to keep cool during the night. The floor was also in need of investigation as there were dips in the carpet and loud creaking as you walked across it. Did not eat in Lizzie's Bistro which is in the cellar but the Lizzie "free room" service of toast and pate was delivered on time, delicious and a generous portion. Breakfast was a real treat offering a splendid selection, all served promptly and with a smile. My comments are observations rather than moans because our one night stay was enjoyable and judging by the number of other guests they felt the same way as we did.

Room Tip: Get a quiet back room, the main road at the front is noisy. Room could be too hot. No lift at this h...

We had a lovely stay and felt welcome and pampered. The location was perfect for our visit to the university, and the hotel is convenient to a bus stop, and only minutes from the train station by bus. Our room (#2) was quite large, the beds were comfortable, and the sheets were crisp and clean. The breakfast was fantastic with a full english cooked to order breakfast, in addition to a very nice assortment of cereals, fruit and spreads (Saintsbury's chocolate orange spread, was a favourite). The cozy restaurant serves good food, which can be enjoyed either in the restaurant, or in your room at no extra charge. The price was extremely reasonable, good value for money. The hotel itself is not fancy, but the service was wonderful, the breakfast was fabulous, and the room was clean and cozy -- we really felt that we received 5-star value at a 2-star price.

Room Tip: Rooms to the rear might be quieter. We stayed in room #2 which faced the rear garden and had a large...

Do not stay at room 24 in the elizabeth house hotel in Southampton!!
At 5am the rooms walls start to click so loudly they woke me up,the clicking so bad I just could not sleep at all!!
This lasted from around 5am till gone 6am...clicking pipes in the wall or floor, but too loud to ignore.
If you want a relaxing quiet nights sleep do not go here!!
Ruined my stay here,I'd have been better off paying a taxi £75 to take me home,at least the nights sleep would have been peacefully quiet.

Room Tip: Rooms look great, bed was comfy but the pipe noise in walls unbareable..I can only say do not use roo...

stayed here for 2 nights as was about 1.5 miles from The Brook (a music venue)...front of hotel is only single glazed so can be a little traffic noise at the front. We asked to be changed and was, without question to the rear of the hotel. Ah.. nice n quiet... squeaky floor was a little annoying. The positives were, plenty of hot water, shower was powerful, room was clean and the bed very comfortable indeed. The breakfast was plentiful and hot....
For the price I would certainly stay here again, no complaints whatsoever....

Room Tip: ask for the rear (we had room 7) nice and quiet....

We stayed just one night and found everything to be just fine. Very pleasant staff who were happy to assist and allowed us to book in early and leave our car in the car park even after we had checked out which helped a great deal. The room was clean and had all we needed, chair, tea and coffee free wi-fi TV, etc. clean bathroom, although the creaky floor boards and slow filling toilet cistern were a niggle. Bed was comfy and we would have had a good nights sleep if other guests hadn't been so selfish by shouting and talking loudly in the early hours but that's not the hotels fault. Breakfast is served between 8 and 10am which is ideal. The full English was plentiful and tasty although as another reviewer mentioned the fried bread was not as tasty as I would like but I guess that's just down to the type of oil used and is really a minor point. Breakfast room was a little warm and would benefit from some open windows but again this is a minor point. Overall I found it to be a very good place to stay, ideally located to find and get into Southampton from and I would recommend staying and would do so again, the cost of £70 for a Saturday night was very good value.
