“not very pleasant”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 August 2014

Owing to my mistake in putting in the wrong dates at a booking for the nextdoor Travelodge, we had to descend from a pleasant and clean budget hotel to this overpriced and unpleasant alternative. The helpful Travelodge receptionist phoned round, and, as almost everywhere else was full on the night of 1st August, we had to take this. The accommodation was in a seedy annexe, and because we needed to leave to catch a plane at 8am, there was no breakfast. There is no lift. I of course asked whether, since we could not use the second 'B' of 'B&B', they might offer a discount, but was sneeringly rejected. Not a fun way to spend £87.50 - a price for which, booked in advance, you could get a room at various London Hiltons.

Room Tip: Don't go there, but if you do avoid the annexe. There's no lift.

This place definitely deserves more than 2 stars! My family and I stayed here prior to cruising and it is a handy place to stay the night before.
When we arrived there was someone to greet us which is always a nice touch.
The bedrooms were spacious, clean and bright. My daughter had to sleep on a pull out bed but it was very comfortable, you wouldn't know it was a pull out bed.
The breakfast was fantastic. Brilliant range of tasty, good quality food. The staff were professional, efficient and helpful and he food arrived quickly.
It was an extremely hot night and we were supplied with a fan without having to ask.
The only thing I would say about our bathroom was that the shower was a shower-bath which meant it was difficult for my elderly mother, young daughter to get in to have a shower before we left. But there water was hot and bathroom was clean.
It is situated within walking distance of the shops but we unfortunately didn't have time to visit them.
I would definitely recommend this place for everyone.

Stayed overnight on 7thJuly pre cruise from Southampton. Firstly the owner Brett and his staff cannot do enough for you - excellent service during our stay. Room was lovely, clean and very smart. Nice bathroom and great bath (needed after a drive from Glasgow) Breakfast was freshly cooked with the full choice of an English breakfast available, served with a smile and fabulous. Check in and check out was quick and efficient. The hotel is very reasonably priced and offered secure parking for the duration of our cruise (a charge is made but the total is more than competitive with other hotels).
The hotel organised our taxi to the dock - 5 minutes and £8.
I would certainly recommend this hotel for your pre-cruise stay.

Room Tip: Rooms at the back will be a little quieter as there is some road noise at the front

We stayed for two night earlier this month and was pleasantly surprised with the hotel. There is ample free parking and we were made welcome on arrival. Our room was ready although we arrived earlier than planned. There was no AC in our room but they supplied us with a fan which helped. Breakfast on both mornings was lovely and there was plenty of it

Situated on a busy main road but there was very little noise at night even with the windows open.

Just one point, if you're coming off the M3 using your sat nav it will take you down The Avenue, ignore it and carry on along the main road for another 150 metres and you will see the hotel on your left.

I'd have to say, if you went to Southampton, this would be the hotel to go. Charging stations, excellent service, large clean rooms, free parking, and a great breakfast. What else do I need to say? Also they were really kind in letting us store our luggage, even when we were no longer staying in the hotel and were travelling around. Overall, this is the best place to stay in Southampton, and if you can, you should go there.

Stayed for three nights as we were visiting relative in Southampton Hospital. Owners and staff very welcoming and friendly. Nothing is too much trouble. Big bonus is free parking. Only fifteen minutes' pleasant walk into City. Had large beautifully refurbished room in the annexe. Very clean and comfortable. The food and service at breakfast was remarkable. Very efficient service and delicious well-cooked food. Quite the best hotel breakfast I have ever tasted. Lizzie's restaurant is located in the basement with direct access to the garden. The evening meal was well-cooked with large portions although the service was not so good as at breakfast time.
Lizzie's is not open on Saturday evenings so we tried the 'deckothedock' across the road. Can recommend this highly.

Room Tip: We had a room on the front in the annexe. Very quiet with no traffic noise.

warm welcome excellent spacious room , very clean and good facilities. Excellent service at breakfast and varied choice of food. Although on a busy road there isn't a problem with traffic noise. We stayed in the annex. Plenty of parking.
